I just would have thought that New World ODOR would've been pretty obvious.
And okay, perhaps it was a lame joke, but some people actually appeared to take me seriously.
Perhaps they missed the deliberate typo?

I've seen that a lot, and I have fallen for some jokes myself - you can't get any tone of voice or facial expressions to clue you in to sarcasm. It's a tough crowd.
Much of what I say is sarcastic in some way, but I'm sure it doesn't come across. Maybe it's funnier that way, at least for me.

They probably mistook it for the real thing (just like I did) New World Odor - New World Order. The only difference is that I gave you some reassurance to let you know that I'm not worried about this because it won't be for a long time, not like these preachy yahoos (pun not intended here) who believe it will be in a few years or so.

The general level of stupidity here is large enough that a simple typo won't be noticed by most people. There are just too many people who don't know how to spell at all.

Some here wouldn't know a joke if it hit them in the face with a pie. I sound more serious then I am.
New World ODOR is pretty funny.

Similar to Murphy's Law, Poe's Law concerns internet debates, particularly regarding religion or politics.
"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing."

Sarcasm and joking can be a little hard to interpret in print since just reading words can't convey what facial expressions and tone of voice can convey.

I think you're right. They miss the typo. When I answer Tragic Typo's questions, more than half of them answer seriously.

I've come to the conclusion that some people on here have no sense of humor. I posted what I thought was a gem a few weeks back, and while plenty of people laughed, even more chewed me out.

They probably got it, the problem is that its just not funny.
If you're trying to get laughs I would suggest a joke about dead babies.
