we read, "There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:" (Luke 16:19).

Then in Revelation 17:4And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:"

I do not want to know what these verses mean... I just want to know if the color "purple" has any spiritual meaning. Thanks.

My boyfriend is, I think, best described as agnostic. He was raised in a Christian household and he recently told me that he doesn't belive in god but he wants to. He even asked, heck, practically begged me to prove that god exists. I think because, though I'm not Christian, I'm strong in my faith and he wants to believe because he feels he should. I don't want to convince him because I think it's wrong and, more to the point, not necessary. I don't know what happens after death but as far as "heaven" is concerned I refuse to believe that a person's religion or lack thereof will have any detrimental effect. The kind of person you are is all that matters. He needs to have his own reasons and his own gut feelings and trust them and I'm not sure how to reassure him because he associates being a Christian with being good. As if that's the only way he can be a good person. Did any of you have this problem? Any words to help him reconcile with his own thoughts and accept them?

I feel a lot of Atheists on here who have responded to my q's have a vehement hatred toward Christians or those who believe differently. I don't understand this and as far as science I believe the same science Atheists say doesn't prove God exists to me does prove at the least some kind of supreme being. Everything is just too complex for me to buy 'it just happened' but anyway I really want to know why the prejudice but I probably know already. Most Christians Atheists have met have probably told them 'your gonna burn in Hell' or something similar and I am sorry for that as a Christian. To me the whole God thing is like a UFO experience, you can't prove it or explain it and yet no one could convince me otherwise. I have also read a lot of Josh Mcdowell's books, he was a Atheist who set out to prove Christianity to be false and ended up being converted and I know this doesn't prove anything but I sure hope there is something more than just this life, don't you?

Are you religious? I am confused on how you are much different than the people you hate. Sometimes you organize together and start websites and national groups. You try to convert people to your line of thinking and if they disagree you chastise them. You have no use for anyone that disagrees with you. You can be rude, pushy, and condescending to those who make another choice. You conveniently forget the black spots on atheist history like Stalin, but often remind other beliefs of their black spots. You preach tolerance and peace, but your words convey otherwise. You have all of the answers to the most difficult questions that the greatest thinkers of all time have not known or disagreed on, and you misuse these people by correctly mentioning for example that people such as Einstein were not christians but fail to remember his denial of atheism and his annoyance with atheist's arrogance. You make these same complaints about the religious, but are you not just as 'religious

and "Witchcraft" close behind? Why aren't there as many questions about other religions, or from other religions?

There are hundreds of religions (or at least a LOT)
Why would God put us in life, with all these religions,
all claiming to be the one that lead God's people,
having only one lead to Heaven?

It's like being put in a room, with hundreds of doors,
and only one is the right one to walk through...

wtf?!?!
My God wouldn't allow anyone to go to hell.
I don't know what happens after death, or
the meaning of life,
But I don't think anyone could understand, untill
it happens to them.

I've decided that religion is fake,
God is not!!!!!

I know about dress codes but don't you think ties should be banished altogether. They must be awfully uncormfortable. Really, what's the point?

I've always heard that growing up, but I find it hard to believe. What if someone confessed that they killed someone? Could the priest really not notify authorities? That doesn't seem right! If I was a priest, I think that I would tell!!!! Thanks for any replies! I'll pick a best answer tonight. :)

The proverbial hospitality of the Arabs.

If you are their friend they will do everything they can for you.

If you are their enemy they will do everything they can against you.

Don't these questions just make you sick?

You know, the questions in Religion and Spirituality that just argues over which religion is right, which is wrong, blah blah blah. Saying it won't make anyone convert or something, it'll just cause fights. Just accept the person for who they are!

I myself am Muslim and many people have made jokes on my religion, but I just ignored them. If you really BELIEVE in your religion, you won't have any need in fighting, because you yourself know that your religion is true. I just posted this question because i have seen quite a lot of childish "Oh, jesus is god!" and "Oh, no he isn't" and "Religon sucks" and other stupid stuff.

My point is, just accept it and move on, before you lose your yahoo Answers account from posting bias answers. Period. And no, i'm not trying to destroy your right of free expression, I'm just saying, dont be TOO free.

Comments? ^_^

I'm a very strong christain, and I enjoy the Harry Potter movies and books. My mom is still very much against it, becuase she says there is a lot of satanic symbolism in it. Is this true? If so, what is it? I've also heard that there may be Christian symbolism. Is that true? Please help me out in any way you can by using the first five movies or books as examples.
