who is that pope, besides a man who was elected by other men? many false prophets will rise up and declare many things, but I have read the Word of God and have a relationship after having surrendered my life to Jesus Christ. His Word and lessons are what I follow, not any given by 'men'..... religion is not what Jesus taught..... it was the religious who persecuted and had Jesus put to death. The pope has no power... over me or anyone else... he is just a man

He didn't say that all non-Catholic religions were fake - he said that only the Roman Catholic Church is the true Church (ecclesia).
It doesn't bother me a bit. I am glad to see somebody taking a stand for diversity for a change. And no, I'm not Roman Catholic. In fact, he singled out my denomination as "defective."

The last Pope apologized to Martin Luther.
Not the first time a Pope Benedict disagreed with one of his predecessors.
Joan of Arc was ordered to be burned alive as a witch.
Roughly 500 years later, Pope Benedict the 15th declared Joan of Arc a Saint. That was about the year 1919.
So the Roman Catholic Church, which NEVER changes, changes its beliefs every time they pick a new Pope.
I'm part of a church which follows Jesus and we have one authoritative book, the Bible.

It's nothing new for Catholicism--that has been church doctrine since its inception. I am sadly disappointed in this pope destroying the beautiful work of John Paul II, who managed to promote peace and tolerance between religions while staying true to his own.
I have great respect for most aspects of the Catholic church, but not for this pope.

First of all, what can you expect? Every religion thinks it's the only completely true one. As a Catholic, I actually believe that all religions (including my own) are valid, true, and yet still contain their errors. Corruption (to some degree) is the inevitability of any organization run by man.

Yeah, I know, only Catholics go to Heaven because the Pope decreed it. Wow, someone else telling me I am a "lousy Christian", I don't "act like a Christian", I don't "talk like a Christian", Golly gee.
When I start putting my faith in people rather than God I know I will end up where everyone who places their faith in anything but God goes.
Romans 14
12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.
The Pope just epitomizes the fact that everyone is a sinner and falls short of the glory of God.

It's not new. Most religions claim all other religions are fakes.

We all know the sort of person he is, so this is not surprising. We all know the types of rulings that the vatican typically promotes, and this is certainly no worse than typical.
