Instead of praying for help that will never come, from a god who isn't there, we learn to grow up and stand on our own two feet.

Instead of seeing this life as merely a prelude to something else, we appreciate it for what it is - the main event, the whole play - as such, it couldn't be more valuable, more precious, more significant.

Instead of agonizing over which set of man-made religious rules to follow, we can use our own minds, make our own decisions, live by our own values, make our own morality according to conscience, not dogma.

Instead of looking for a god in everything we see, and trying to shoe-horn reality into one particular religious mythology, we can see the world for what it really is, and let the evidence show us the truth.

Instead of being told we're worthless sinners, fit only to worship a god and beg for his mercy, we understand that we're amazing creatures, products of remarkable natural processes in an awe-inspiring universe, and be inspired by that.

Do you really understand Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit if you don't believe in the trinity?

How can you be a Christian and follow Christ, if you don't understand who he is....

How come the Catholic Bible have more books than the Protestant Bible?Did the Catholics add more books in the Bible or did the Protestant take out some in books?I remember reading somewhere (Revelation I believe) that we should not add or take out God's word,are Catholics guilty of adding orare the Protestant guilty of taking out God word?

Where is the proof that evangelists didnt make it all up about his birth and childhood???

Sex is considered to be inappropriate in Christianity. It is only allowed between two married couples. To engage in sexual act before getting married is consider a sin. We are told that our lust for the opposite sex comes from the devil, but it is all biological. Animals engage in sexual act with different partners.

Should we feel obligated to be ashamed of our natural human instincts and biology? Can we not fully explore our sexual selves without any inappropriate guilt imposed by some fisherman or religious nut 2 thousand years ago.

What is the name of this heresy: the belief that all gods are actually the one God? I thought that it was called "pantheism", but I'm not sure. What is the correct term?

P.S.- It's not "paganism", "polytheism", or "pantheism"... it's a different word. Do you know?

they say christianity is a crutch or "support" for people who are "handicapped".

but wouldn't we agree tat EVERYONE needs a CRUTCH???

we have problems in our lives. we have lustful and hateful thoughts in our heads that eat us up. we have bad relationships. we have stronghold habits that we cannot quit. we gossip, we curse. we feel lonely sometimes, we feel useless sometimes, we feel empty sometimes.

Earlier today I tossed out a question about the Big Bang and
I'm happy to say no one really knows my opinion (including
myself) and I had the enjoyment of reading thought provoking
answers to ponder. Being accused of being a Creationist
by some, an Evolutionist, an illiterate and an idiot (not to
mention other choice innuendos) reminded my of why I'm
so addicted to the Q & A section -- there's true knowledge
to be had, some heavy things to contemplate and the
opportunity to observe your fellow human beings at their
best and worst. There's always humor to be found.
