There are lots of characters way in the past that they wrote stuff about that never existed..Zuess, Thor, Shiva, and so on - it's just men who wrote that stuff to enslave other men and make them feel guilty about having fun.

Only one mention outside of the gospels of him. Josephus, the Roman historian. As such he didn't figure much outside the Jewish community. Note that the majority crucified him.making him a minority in his own day. Jesus is the ideal solution to a mega problem. LIFE. The ideal human. He was against politics, structured religion, cruelty and all that the average person struggles with in life. The things that make life nearly unbearable.
Jesus is either a God re-incarnate or a symbol created to ease our long and suffering days on this planet.
Jesus cannot have represented Christianity, as the Christian world advocates War/Cruelty, Political hegemony, Economic opportunism based on the suppression of others, structured religion, intolerance of others beliefs, and it just goes on. The Christian world is doomed by it's own rejection of ideal truth, and the capital crime of using good (Jesus ) to promulgate evil.

Well I wouldn't just poopoo that thought , but i'd need a little more proof that he didn't because christians have proclaimed his existance for generations and there has been atheists threw-out that time so without looking into it I would be willing to say at least he existed but am curious about his special powers Sounds too good to be true and I'm skeptical enough to want to hear more or read more but I need more...

Most important Robert, how would a legend spread so fiercely and so fast, if it was made up? Legends and myths that are created around historical episodes usually take generations to settle, still, there is historical evidence that only some years after Jesus Crucifixion, the story of his death and Resurrection were already pretty well established. If it were a myth or legend it would take a lot of time to establish and spread itself.

Ultimately it doesn't matter if Jesus really existed, what matters is following His words. I mean, if I asked God, "how should I live, dear God, give me an example of love" and the story of Jesus was created as that example then I know how to be. Whether he existed or not, it's a challenge to follow that example.

We know, from history, that he existed. Some people, however question his birth by immaculate conception and some say he might have been a prophet but not the holy son of God. My opinion: I don't know and nobody has ever been able to prove it, either way, beyond blind faith. If there actually is life after death, we might find out. If not, we will never know.

If he existed as a real person, or not, if he was the Son of God, or not, if he was simply a fictional representation of a school of thought, for me, seeking to understand the teachings and thoughts attributed to Him are what is important.....If it comes from Christ, The Blues Brothers, or Harry Potter, if it helps me to live a better life, and make sense out of it, that is what is important.....

Jesus does exist. You have to believe in your heart, soul and mind that GOD is real.God is real everywhere because of his grace. But YOU are the one to have it in your heart that he is real. If God did not exist we would not be alive on this earth, there wouldn't be anything alive. I pray that this is the answer that u r looking for .God Bless:) Read Gen.1:1 John 3:16

Josephus wrote about Him being crucified and we have the New Testament written by men who knew Him. Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

How do you know he existed? If it's in the bible, it's suspect. And he not found anywhere else. Plus there are many other prophets very similar to him. Could he actually be a character of convenience?

I thinks Jesus never existed. Having studied all the scriptures and early christian writings (especially the gnostic writings), I would say "Jesus" was just a personification of their "inner god", or "cosmic christ". And somehow this secret stuff leaked out to the literalists and they created christianity.
"You poor Idiotai!" said the gnostics to the early christians, "you have taken literally all that was only meant mystically, and you have accepted the mysteries of old for modern history."
