If so, why do Americans seem to be totally ignorant about the rest of the world such as where countries are located and what great contributions other countries have made to the world even before the USA existed.

I have been in the military for the past five years. Its been more than once that I mentioned something that I, or another friend of mine, might have seen in Iraq or in other military situations. That the average person who has never seen military service disputes, because they saw a skewed version on the news. I mean, I have had people argue with me over something they have no knowlage about. Thanks.

All of the arguments about how pot is not bad, not addictive, not harmful... then why not give it up if it is causing problems with your family members?

Serious only please ..this is scaring the **** out of me!

ME and my girlfriend (both in our 30's) were playing with a "home made" ouija board...I totally did not believe it at the time..but every since we have been having weird stuff happen in our house...even scarier...our baby can be playing happily..then all the sudden stops and looks over our shoulders "eyes wide open" and laughs. Weird stuff such as people touching us and whispering we hear ALL the time....Is this real or am I going crazy?...BUT PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS..honestly its scaring me to death.

Do you think that churches can be liable for contributing to the delinquency of minors for offering "real" wine to children during service?

If someone made an issue of this could churches get in real big trouble?

Do you give any credance to the Bible as to being at least partially acurate?

Or do you believe the whole thing to be false?

If some of the Bible would be found to coincide with other historical documents do you think that would be enough to prove to you the existence of Heaven and Hell?

Or would you want more proof?

Do you believe in any other historical re-tellings that aren't 100% accurate and maybe a little embellished to be true?

On Thanksgiving, our family allows our minor childern (12-17) to drink ONE small glass of family wine that has been in the basement of 3 years. (Every year each person says announces three things that they are Thankful for and then the whole table toasts and drink Cherry Wine). Is this family tradition illegal?

....And I know that I am not the only family that has this tradition b/c I know of friends who have simuliar traditions in there familiies!

QUESTIONS:

1. What are your thoughts on this 120 yr old tradition?
2. Do you have family traditions that are simuliar? Please share!!!!!

Over the ages the Franciscans have turned their hands to the many needs of the world. We are called to serve the poor, the marginalised, the outcasts. As we have come into the new millennium the needs of the world and the Church are still to be met.

God bestows natural talents to all people, and gifts. Both talents and gifts can be used for the glory of God. Simply having the gift is wondrous indeed, but acceptance and use of the gift is a matter of personal choice. BECOME CHRIST FOR OTHERS, BECOME ALL YOU WHERE MEANT TO BE. When our gifts are embraced and employed in their fullness, some rather wonderful things will happen. God gave your gifts to you, and He wants you to use them for His glory by helping others. The Bible says God gave spiritual gifts to us "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up" (Ephesians 4:12). Ask God to use you to help others in their spiritual journey—and He will. www.franciscanvocation.com

Those of us who say there is no god are told:

"Only fools say in their hearts, 'There is no God'."
-Psalm 14 1-2

But in response, I can say:

"Whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."
-Matthew 5:22

Can you reconcile that contradiction?

Hi. I'm learning Brazilian Portuguese, and I think it's such an amazing language. But whenever someone finds out I'm learning it, they ask the most difficult question to answer: why? I just like it. But it made me kind of curious, and I started to wonder if people view it as unusual when someone wants to learn a language when it has nothing to do with their ethnic background or anything? Please share your opinion on this matter :)
