A butterfly does not have the capacity to "remember" nor does it want to. If we do, we probably would choose not to, as well.

Madame Butterfly and I were talking about this just the other day. She remembers those days with fondness.

She misses her little caterpillar friends, even though she's happy now.

I think butterflies go on instinct without memory... they always respond certain ways in certain cirumstances. Caterpillars, for instance, are eating machines until they're full enough to cocoon up and become a butterfly.

As for us, I think we'll remember, but I don't think we'll still care. It won't have mattered, in retrospect. I believe in heaven and hell. People in hell will be too busy screaming and suffering and people in heaven will be too busy praising God and experienceing infinite joy and satisfaction.

People do not sit up in heaven looking down on us here on earth with nostalgia.

I keep wondering when I will turn from a caterpillar to a butterfly.

We do not have memories of our past lives while we are here.

I guess you'll have to ask the butterfly that one.
