I have to give a devotion about anything...I have decided to do it on the putting on the Full Armor of God. My devotion is going to be given to a group of girls ranging from 1st to 6th grade. Since my devotion is for a group of girls it might as well be designed for a group of girls. I am making my lesson title "Putting On the Full Outfit of God" because I figured most of the girls wouldn't really care about having on an armor. In place of the pants would be a skirt, in place of the breastplate would be a tank top, in place of the shoes would be flip-flops, and in place of the helmet will be a headband. I can't figure out what to use in place of the shield and the sword. I will take any ideas as to what to use for these and ideas to add on to my devotion.
If you think this is a BAD idea, I will take your CONSTRUCTIVE criticism...any additional ideas or comments are welcome...Thank you.

Although there are many different--and often contradictory--beliefs to choose from, is not the *end* result the same?

being rude and hurtful to anyone that expresses an idea or thought that conflicts with their beliefs?
I was raised Christian, but am now Atheist. I remember that even Jesus dined with the Sinners and loved them unconditionally...with never a fowl word....

Is it so hard for modern day Christians to act the same as the man they claim to represent?

And to let you rude Christians know...I became an Atheist after being around people like you....I'd rather burn for all eternity then spend one day with the likes of you.....Oh, and don't think for one minute that your example isn't being written in the Book....if you actually believe in all of that...

Thy will be done - definition: whatever happens, to you, to me, to the universe... it's God's will. Or can your prayer change God's will?

I just wonder, with the ability to practice whatever faith you please both in public and in private, what purpose is there to attemp to alter policy in these matters? If I believed a three legged dog that speaks was a god because he pees chinese symbols, and he demanded i buy him a latte, would I have a right to lobby for tax breaks for imported columbian beans based on my supposed rights as a member of a religion? I know it's a horribly silly analogy and may have a hole or two, but really, wtf. No, we will not ever have a national religion, ever, because you know what, the economy would collapse. Based on the fact that we have no single religion claiming more than 32% of the nation's population, we can assume that people would fight and leave or worse, stay and fight, and tada America's first Holy War, we are due for one I think. Europe was so lucky to have one first.

a "Christian Nation" and were founded by Christians on Christian principles, what would change? How would it affect you?
On the flip side, how would it affect you if you are not a Christian?

If you CAN choose something you don't want to choose, doesnt it then BECOME your choice, thus never actually choosing what you didnt want to choose?

So if you can only choose one thing, that which you want, can you choose your 'wants'? Can you choose to want to eat food? Can you choose to want to have sex? I dont think you can, so even your 'wants' themselves arent choice.

So, in conclusion, Is 'choice' an illusion? Because according to my above statements, you can only 'choose' one thing( that which you want ), and that one thing isnt a choice.

This is a philosophical question, i decided to ask it here too because I like you R&S people.

A Close Encounter with Asteroid ErosIts next close approach to Earth will come in January 2012,
good "catch-up" opportunity is just around the corner. Solar Cycle 24 is beginning and it is expected to reach maximum between 2010 and 2012. During that time, there will be an abundance of solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) for astronomers to study.

The Pharisees and Saducees came to Jesus and tested Him by asking Him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, "When evening comes you say 'It will be fair weather for the sky is red,' and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the signs of the sky but cannot interpret the signs of the times." (Matt 16:1-3).

"And a second like unto it is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."-Matthew 22:39

The following is taken from Colombus' Journal:

"They are the best people in the world and above all the gentlest--without knowledge of what is evil--nor do they murder or steal...they love their neighbor as themselves and they have the sweetest talk in the world...always laughing."

"They would make fine servants. With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want."

For me there is a difference between an acquaintance, an associate and a friend. But since so many people use the term “friend” to describe all three I have to ask what kind of friend you are:

1) A fair weather friend
2) A “see you when I see you” friend
3) A “take you to the airport” friend
4) A “bail you out of jail at 3 in the morning” friend

OMG I can't even believe I am asking this, but its pretty anonymous on here so here goes:

I've had a BAD stomache ache all day all I went to use the restroom and realized that I had an accident all over myself and my pants. I tried to clean up as best I could but I am SO scared of smelling. I would ask to go home so that I could change but I am really close with my boss and she would want to know why I have to leave, etc. etc. I am so embarrassed and don't know how to go about this situation.

Please help!

Ok, so I believe that all of our souls were once in Heaven. God created earth because we(in heaven) were always happy and at peace, but we didn't know it because we had nothing to compare it to. So He sent our souls(in bodies) to earth so we would feel pain and heartache so when we return to heaven we will be able to know and understand we were happy.

So, here is another believe I have. The reason He put us here, on earth, with free will is because after the war God wasn't sure which angels were still faithful so He sent us to Earth and unconsciencously(sp) we accept or reject what God says, so then He can see whether or not we are faithful.

Is this the possible reason and explaination for why humans are on earth?

I dont agree with the belief system I was raised in, but I'm not in a position to dispute it with my family. I was asked to attend my house of workship with my mom, but I no longer feel any intrest in it.

Yes , something devastating happened in my life. I just dont want to feel guilty for letting go of my faith.I love feeling free to honestly challenge it and explore other possiblities in spirituality and religion. I no longer practice it. Because I distance myself from it, I've been able to explore the world in my own way, which my religion is actually against.

But I have to be quiet about it. I cant let them sense a change, a lady at my house of worship ( who has known me all my life) said I've changed. Even my parents have. And I acknowledge it, but I still need to keep this image up, until I am finally able to break away and do things my way.

Any suggestions? I cant stand my house of worship much and have no intrest in reconciling my stance with it.

Thanks!
