A tanktop is not as protective as a breastplate. God's Word is best kept the way it is.
The "breastplate of righteousness" is a protection for our spiritual heart.

This is a BAD idea. The full armor of God uses the idea of a soldier preparing for battle. Just as a soldier puts on his armor so he can go into battle prepared, so we must put on our spiritual armor so we will be prepared for the spiritual warfare that comes our way. The tank top, headband, etc. completely lose this analogy.
Here is another passage that deals with spiritual warfare.
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
5 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
Remember, the idea of the passage about the full armor of God is warfare. As long as we are on the earth we are in spiritual warfare whether we know it or not, whether we are prepared for it or not. Also please note, the only offensive weapon is the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. All the other armor is defensive.

I think it's a bad idea because your taking away from what God is saying in this scripture. The is spirtual information to fight against the devil. Ephesians 6:11-12 to put on the whole armor so we can stand against the devil and his schemes. Also that we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against evil rulers. How can you help the girls in this spirtual fight be perpared if they are comparing the armor to shirts and flip flops that's not showing protection, that's not gear to figth in a war. They have to see the protection that God's armor gives against the devil Also if not figthing flesh and blood they should'nt wear armor that remind them of each other, because this armor is not to look cute this armor is for the devil. They will understand the scripture if you break it down to them and tell them how the devil fights them buy: sending evil people that might seem good but are out to hurt them, kidnappers, peer pressure(drinking, drugs), even boys who want to steal there innocence. Girl will be intrested in the armor there are plenty of warriors that were women who wore armor. You could even compare Zena the warrior princess who fought the evil eneimes and there are some cartoons girls who fight evil vullans. What you can do is bring a plastic armor suit and show the girls each piece as you read the scripture and have the girls who can fit it try it on so they can feel how they shoud perpare for battle. What you can do have the girls draw amd decorate there own armor, have them personalize make the armor there favorite color and design but make sure it looks like armor. Don't take away from Gods word he made the scriptures with little girls in mind also!

What a great subject and it is one that the young people should start to think about. It helps all of us to realize when the negative things happen, we can put on our Shield of God or the Armor of God. It makes us strong and able to deal better when thinking like this. As an adult, putting on the Armor of God , has helped me survive the negative answers that appear on this website. Wonderful Subject !! Good Luck.

One of the problems you have is because each thing has a specific use a sword for fighting the enemy and a shield to defend. Now the closest you may come is mace and a purse. some things just don't translate well.

Your sword could be the bible and your shield could be your cross or crucifix.
Still, the rest of your armor doesn't sound very god-like. Armor is meant for battle and the armor of god is meant for a battle in god's cause. The closest thing in today's world would be a uniform and god uniforms could be those worn by priests or nuns. You could also use the armor of god as an analogy for dressing up for church (sign of respect, sign of seriousness, etc.). I would not go casual.
As an Atheist I suppose I can't ask for god's blessing on you but I suppose most of the girls have been indoctrinated already so good luck.

It is always a bad idea to fill children's heads with lies. The very god that encourages you to put on his armor is the same god that ordered the deaths of countless innocent children much like the children you are attempting to indoctrinate. Why don't you teach them that story? Heck, it's in the same Bible you got the idea for the devotional from in the first place.

Well I don't know what to tell you about the sword, but for the shield use a Bible, The word of God is what the shield represents.

Don't mess with God's word.
If in His wisdom He chose armour then you are foolish and wrong to change it. You will demean and belittle His chosen instruction. Are you really wiser than He is?
Your job is to understand it, know how to apply it and most of all to live it.
You are hardly doing that if you do what you propose.
