C'mon, what good is buying an omnipotent, invisible friend if ya can't schmooze the occasional hourly favor?
Praying is like playing Johnny Sokko -- you give the Giant Robot a command, and He does it! Kids tend to outgrow the flying robot fantasy, but few outgrow the secret desire for power & control.

For starters get educated, Christians are not the only religious group praying to God or some higher power. Muslems pray, Jews pray Hindu pray. There are so many other religions that pray. The reason for prayer is hope. If we can give ourselves that little glimpse of hope that maybe our loved one won't die, or maybe we will win the lottery, or maybe just maybe we'll have perfectly heathly baby or children.
Grow up and realize that prayer is not trying to change God's will its trying to give humanity or Christians some hope in a time where hope is limited to the wealthy.

No, I think God actually likes to hear the prayers of chidren. After all, didn't he say, "let the little children come unto me?" Other references show that God loves little kids! I always wonder, when I see these incessant questions, why does it bother the atheists so much that people pray?

Prayer is just like me and you talking sort. of. God already knows what we will pray he is looking for you to seek after him.Taking time to read his word.To fellow ship with other believers. He wants a close personal relationship with you. That takes time. Prayer is also listening for God.God will reopsond by people by circumstances by events.Effective prayer will seek to align with God will as you said. There are many things that god says are clearly his will such as the ten commandments to love your neighbor as yourself.God works on you when you pray.He wants you to be in every aspect of your life and he can assist help move change anytthing of course because he is an awesome God.

no one can change God's will. everything happens for a reason and God knows before we do. Prayer is a " comment box" if you will, that lets us talk to him about how we feel. He is the Counsler. My question to you is why are you giving a sense of anger when asking this question? Sounds personal. Maybe you should pray about it.

WE arent praying to change Gods will, we pray to change the will of others than only do their own will and will be lost, and we pray that we may stay in Gods will and be obedient to Him. Christians dont try to change Gods will, we try to conform to His will. Big difference.
Grasp that concept and join us in prayer, will you.
Noone can chane Gods will, and God wont change someone that doesnt want to be changed. Its free will for us to choose to believe or not and obey or not.
Concseuences are pretty serious, so choose wisley and SOON.

Perhaps the intention is not to change his will but instead how we feel about our lives.
“Grant me the courage to change those things I can. Grant me the patience to accept those things I can’t change. Grant me the wisdom to know the difference between the two”
Does this sound like an argument to change will or simply remind and encourage a person to pay more attention?
I can also say as with many things. . . A murderer threatens to kill you. . If you do not ask to be saved or spared you may not be. And if you do they may kill you because you ask, but you ask anyway.

Because that is how we communicate with God. If you don't give him any recognition, which is what he wants us, everyone, (all of his children) to do, then you are choosing to ignore Him. By praying for God's Will, means you want what he wants for you. That is why we have free will. He wants us to choose Him, not have to choose Him. Plus by praying to him you will be setting a perfect example of what a true christian does and how they talk to god. and just to let you know, He, God, does talk back. :)

God has allowed Himself to be influenced by man's requests.
When God said He would destroy Sodom, Abraham asked:
"What if there are 40, 30, 20, 10 decent people there?"
God agreed to put aside His idea, IF, there were that many.
When Lot had to escape Sodom, he was told to flee to the mountains. Being an old man, he said:
"No, not that! Let me go somewhere level."
God agreed.
God rules, but He also listens.
He doesn't mind accomadating, if He can.
