I'm 16 now and I also am a straight edge. Drugs, alcohol, it's all a waste of money, money you need for college, to live on your own. Don't buy into it. It might be their High School experience, but it shouldn't be yours.

Getting drunk is part of the human experience. You needn't worry about that right now though. There's plenty of time for that later. Some people who drink have a bad reaction from the get-go, so you have to weigh the risks you are taking here. You're old enough to know what's right and what's wrong.
On the other hand, I smoked the pot when I was in high school and had it out of my system before I graduated. Many of those who looked down on me then are still smoking it now, 15+ years later. So sometimes exposing yourself to something isn't such a bad thing. The important thing is to use your head and keep out of trouble.
Lastly, if you have never tried it you can say you don't care to, but you have no right to rail against it or act self-righteous about your abstinence.

I'll just echo what the 1st poster said. You don't have to make it part of your high school expeirence. I've never smoked or done drugs, didn't drink until I was in college and was a virgin until I was 17 and I truned out pretty well. Good education, good job, good family... lets put it this way... doing nothing bad in high school can only hurt you in popularity contests... however, doing something bad in high school could hurt you for the rest of your life.

You are the smart one, in a few years you will have left all those people behind. people drink because they have no personality, people take drugs because they can't stand how boring they are or they are not content with life, they are not smart enough to know how to make life exciting, so they have to buy drugs from some loser who will be in jail next week. Getting drunk and taking drugs is only for people who can't cope, are insecure about themselves. if you get the chance to see these same people in ten years, you will be so happy you did not follow them!

I would say getting drunk is a small part of high school. Its very overrated. I mean think about it...you drink a lot of alchy or smoke/snort stuff and your head gets all spinny and then you start acting like a fool. Youre better off being yourself and preparing for future goals like college, getting your place, your own ride, a good job...

Don't you think doing something that is against your character because of peer pressure shows weakness?

Stay the way you are.
You are better than your peers.
They are pathetic losers that have to follow the crowd.
