For me there is a difference between an acquaintance, an associate and a friend. But since so many people use the term “friend” to describe all three I have to ask what kind of friend you are:

1) A fair weather friend
2) A “see you when I see you” friend
3) A “take you to the airport” friend
4) A “bail you out of jail at 3 in the morning” friend

I am a take you to the airport friend, which is probably why I only have a few friends because I wouldn't be able to keep up with a lot of trips to the airport.

I am a great friend to my close friends. It would depend on what they did to land themselves in jail at 3:00 in the morning. We are in our late 40's and shouldn't be landing in jail at 3:00 in the morning at this stage in our lives. I think that I would appreciate someone taking me to the airport and would consider them a great friend as taking me to the airport at this stage in my life is probably much more likely a need than bailing out of jail. I think all my really close friends would feel the same way.

it really depends on the person i call a "friend" if he is trustworthy and cool and i could hang out with i would be in the jail with him lol, and all the other people are just friends but the guy i'm in jail with is my best friend. so i have a lot of friends but only a few best friends. and people i just say hi, there people hopefully they will be my friends but at the moment they are just people i know

I'm really quiet and never have any drama, all of my other friends come to me to vent and expect advice but I'm really terrible at giving it. I'm very loyal but awkward to talk to... also, besides to my best friend, I'm always the second choice

5) you better pay me back or I'm taking you to court.

JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA!!!!!

Depends on the person that I'm dealing with. Most of the time I want to be the one to go bail you out of jail but I know it will be a good lesson for you so I just go to see you and tell you "I told you ."

Unfortunately for me (at times), I'm #4. Although I DO have to say that the friends that I have - and I choose them carefully - would do the same for me at any time, so...it evens out, don't you think?
