I have read may questions about political correctness and Christmas being called a "Winter Festival" and lights not called Christmas lights but "Winter Lights" so as not to upset other religious dinominations. Do these other dinominations like Muslims, Jews , Sikhs buy their children CHRISTMAS presents ?

All states have their good and bad points to them--after all, this is a great country. As for me...
"Best":
1. Texas: friendly folks, great cities, diversity in geography, they can fly their flag the same level as the U.S. flag and divide into six states
2. Tennessee. Friendly, beautiful (especially the Smokies,) water in east TN is so clean
3. Mississippi. Friendly, there's nothing like the smell of pine forest on a cool, crisp, foggy morning
4. Alabama. Friendly..again, and the best shrimp on the Gulf. B-ham is a cool city
5. Washington. Seattle, Olympic peninsula, volcanoes, ridges
6. North Carolina. Nothing like the Blue Ridge, a must see

"Worst":
1. West Virginia: not very progressive, good-ol-boy networks pervasive
2. Arkansas: Ditto
3. Kentucky: Ditto--plus, folks there are just mean (and not JUST Louisville and Lexington)
4. California: SoCal is dirty, overcrowded, expensive
5. New Jersey: high crime, LOT of pollution, high taxes
6. Connecticut: Sucks!

Will that make me Catholic, Protestant, or what? I just need to know which church to go to.

And why are we embarrassed and offended by them? Is it just because we're told from an early age they are wrong? However we are never told WHY they are wrong.

For example...
"God created the world"
"Intelligent design"
"Creationism"
"The world is flat" (There are societies of people who actually believe this)
"Whatever happens is God's Will." (Abdicating responsibility?)

Anyone have any ideas of a game that the family can play to guess what the present is? Last year we did a word scramble and they had to unscrabble the letters to reveal their present. Any ideas on what we could do this year?

On the same day as the results of a new study were released, showing that 95% of Americans engage in premarital sexual relations, a phenomenon that has remained unchanged since the 1950s (see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061220/ap_on_re_us/premarital_sex_6), the vatican issues yet another ridiculous press release regarding abstinence (see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061220/ap_on_he_me/vatican_aids_1).

how does it change anything? None of us were here, so none of us will ever truly know, and what effect does it really have on our lives today? WE ARE ALREADY HERE--monkeys learning, playdoh people--it's all just theories in the end because until we develop time travel or a retrocognitive television system, we will never truly know--why can't we just accept that and move on ?

My friend isnt a stereotypical gay at all. But there are many things about him that make me question it. he often touches me affectionately or hugs me. I have absolutely no problem with the fact that he may be gay but i would just feel better if i knew. would it be better to simply ask him or wait and see.

Why do Christians feel the need to control non-Christians?

Why do Americans feel the need to control other nations?

Why does anyone suppose that it is their duty --- or worse, their right --- to control the life of another human being?

I'm sick of the control mongers in this world. Leave me alone and I'll leave you alone. Try to control me and I'll come at you with guns blazing. That's how I see it. Anyone agree? If not, you better have an intelligible answer. Answers like "Because," or, "it's in the Bible" have no credence with me.

Through reading the bible, I noticed that the writings of Jesus talk about Jesus wanting people to have a personal relationship with God, and to avoid a formal, religious way of being with God. He talks this way for the majority during the writings where he is alive. He is point our attention towards God. Then, when he is not directly talking to people, during the trial, and after he is dead, his writing turn towards the set up of a church. I know one can quote many passages, but if you take the context as a whole from everything Jesus has said...I think he wants us to have our attention on God and not him, and that it should be a personal relationship with God...This is just my own personal opinion.
