All states have their good and bad points to them--after all, this is a great country. As for me...
"Best":
1. Texas: friendly folks, great cities, diversity in geography, they can fly their flag the same level as the U.S. flag and divide into six states
2. Tennessee. Friendly, beautiful (especially the Smokies,) water in east TN is so clean
3. Mississippi. Friendly, there's nothing like the smell of pine forest on a cool, crisp, foggy morning
4. Alabama. Friendly..again, and the best shrimp on the Gulf. B-ham is a cool city
5. Washington. Seattle, Olympic peninsula, volcanoes, ridges
6. North Carolina. Nothing like the Blue Ridge, a must see

"Worst":
1. West Virginia: not very progressive, good-ol-boy networks pervasive
2. Arkansas: Ditto
3. Kentucky: Ditto--plus, folks there are just mean (and not JUST Louisville and Lexington)
4. California: SoCal is dirty, overcrowded, expensive
5. New Jersey: high crime, LOT of pollution, high taxes
6. Connecticut: Sucks!

Mississippi: no cities, the poorest and most racist state, good-ol-boy networks pervasive
Alabama: no cities, poor and racist, good-ol-boy networks pervasive
Tennessee: good-ol-boy networks pervasive, this is where hillbillies come from

worst is a tie... Mississippi, dirty unfriendly people, never found a clean toilet down there. And New Jesrsy, rude lude and crude

Best. I will omit my home state due to bias... The Dakotas, very friendly people and nice country.
runners up in best.. parts of Tennissee and Kentucky and west virginia... all those places out of the big cities and the snooty rich areas... and western Alabama, because the people treated me very good when I was stuck there

dont even bother with catagory... Just about every where along I 95 or I 5.... Mass. Con. R.I.. CA and FL every where except the panhanle.

Isn't it nice how some people's answers are based on stereotypes? Wow. And these are the same who will get into an argument over how they are so accepting and aren't prejudice... Interesting, at the very least.

I like Southern states and states right smack in the middle of the country. The people I've met in the South are very friendly, and the states in the middle are just beautiful.

Best: Washington - you said it, it's beautiful; Utah, essentially more national parks than any other state - you have the desert, canyons, mountains.

Worst: Texas - the people I've met all think they are superior to others.
