This saturday my husband's company is giving a Xmas party, I don't know anybody in his job, his company has a "wives " program, wives get together and have dinner (company pays), I never assisted to any of them but now I am pretty much HAVE TO go to this d arn party. I am a very shy person and I really dislike socializing, it is a burden for me to dress up and meet new people, it just really really hard. Is there anything I could do to feel more comfortable in the party? what do people talk about in parties like this?.

I am freaking out, I am even thinking to fake an illness that day so my husband doesn't force me to go :(.

After all, it's pretty obvious that the only reason they're here is because people who believe in God are here. There's no other reason for such a one to be in a "religion & spirituality" forum. Think about that - you owe your presence in this forum to my presence and therefore you are defined by me, the very one who you deride. On the other hand, I really have no use for you. Ooooh.

I wonder if they would request that an "atheism" forum be opened, so they could discuss atheism amongst themselves. Would they resort to trying to shame other atheists, to show that they're smarter or more atheistic?

So, where would derisive atheists go?

I have a friend who I've been arguing with over this issue. He has trouble knowing what exactly I mean when I refer to the right or the left in conversation. For instance, he believes that the right side of a car is the right of a person sitting in it. Yet, when talking of the car standing outside of it, he thinks the right side is the other side (left side when sitting in it). I think the right side of a car is always the right of a person sitting in it, regardless of where the conversation is taking place.

Other situations: while looking at things in a mirror; buildings; rooms; doors and windows; turning a key, screw, etc.; keys on a key-chain; "the girl on the right," and many more.

Is there a universal rule to knowing which side is the left and which side is the right, or does it all depend on where you are speaking from when you refer to them?

Thanks.

Or is it always going to be about good and evil. There are alot similar things in alot of religions, what seperates us all are the little details that each religion has. For example, Dont actions speak louder than words? Forget about your religion and take a look at your general beliefs. How many of you belief in love, and goodness? Are those not the strongest beliefs and emotions in all of us? Love for your friends, your family & for anyone else that got left out.And Good things to All. Who has the time to be casting spells of harm or being hypocrites to your own religion?

This Christmas we'll spend over $50 billion on gifts and more than $24 billion on gift cards alone. It's estimated that it would only take $20 billion a year to work toward ending hunger. Could we change Christmas to make it really about love and help the more than 300 million kids that live in hunger and 16,000 a day that die from hunger related causes? I think we could but I wonder how.

to understand that if people choose to require proof of his existance that we are only doing it because we ARE made in such a way. The doubts and disbeliefs would come naturally in this case. Why shouldn't we demand hard evidence that is acceptable in our eyes. Is it so difficult for an omnipotent god to show his children he exists.

Now, don't slap me with the Jesus plot. I have seen no evidence of him either. The stories of miracles and reserection don't cut it. I havn't seen nor heard proof of this either but I have seen fossils and skeletal remains of distant past life on this planet. To me these things are real and cannot be disputed. Your Bible does not explain these things nor has your God.

I'm not asking you to prove these things I ask you about your God, I'm only asking for you to explain how does one put this much FAITH into something you cannot see, hear or touch. And please don't feed me the line about the Holy Spirit. We are earth manifested and earth bound.

Hi,

I would like to know, are there any churches or religious places, having their own parking garage buildings. I dont see any such. Are there any restrictions - religious or city permits, for not having a parking garages of their own. Sometimes the church/religious area is so over parked on the street with no parking garage. Appreciate your comments and/or facts either way.
