Or is it always going to be about good and evil. There are alot similar things in alot of religions, what seperates us all are the little details that each religion has. For example, Dont actions speak louder than words? Forget about your religion and take a look at your general beliefs. How many of you belief in love, and goodness? Are those not the strongest beliefs and emotions in all of us? Love for your friends, your family & for anyone else that got left out.And Good things to All. Who has the time to be casting spells of harm or being hypocrites to your own religion?

"I Am" is the answer according to many spiritual masters. All that was always is and everything else is jsut a dream. I take that as meaning love is all there is.

The Universal question is everything I see, hear, think about and feel make any overall sense, really? Does the cycle or circle of life that we can see have in Universal meaning that bonds us to the world, stars, double suns, galaxies black holes and universe out there in the sky and within us and you and me? Does my love for friends and family and all humans have any lasting meaning?
The answer is that we do not have any proof that it does, except that we know that it does. We do not fully understand it nor do we even expect to fully understand it in the future, but we have faith that it does and when we exercise faith we know that it does.
A plane crashes with mothers and children on board and kills everyone in the plane. Is that it for those children. We can understand it that way or think it is that way, so we have concluded the the cycle of life is not finished with the mothers and children on the plane. Somehow they live again to have their life and ask the same questions you are asking.
Faith, a form of knowing that the circle of life is complete in ways that we can know but we really can not fully understand. Faith does not require us to know everything, it requires us to take the leap of faith, and experience the freedom of being really alive.
But don't be foolish about it. We do not own life. We can not claim life. We can only live life. Also, you may have to leap for faith many times, we are just going to do so.

Good question. No one knows, but I have to say that people tend to look for the answer to that question outwardly. Let’s say that there are no creator gods and we are accidents of evolution; does that mean there is no meaning to life? I don’t believe so. Why does there have to be some outward reason? Why can’t we be our own reason?

I’m agnostic: I love my husband and he loves me. I try to be a good person and I think most people try to be good people (although that means different things to different people). I’m just glad that I have the opportunity to know what these concepts are, no matter what the truth.

I certainly do not believe in any theological god. I believe in science and the scientific method.

I think that what foulweathercatcherman is great and all, but really it’s just wishful thinking.

Life is universal...it was there even before religions were coded/defined...so, the meaning of life, purpouse of life is as universal as life itself.
Religions are code of conduct, formulated in accordance with the time and region it was shaping up..
Ofcourse, there are as many similarity as you can find...and rightlyso, as all religion should generate the experience of spirituality.
Your question also touched upone emotional/moral and social aspects of life. Most of it is defined and redifined by religion.
The science of spirituality does not get boged down by religion.
The confusion starts when 'preachers' of all sects and religion starts 'promoting' their contents.
If yo focus on the context of religion, which is religesity / spirituality, you will see the contents of all religion in right perspective and most of the questions pertaining to morality , social code of conduct etc. shall be resolved.
Incidently, if you study patanjali yoga sutra, it speaks of laws of spirituality which supports the purpouse of almost all religion. It also caters to atheists, and supports them to grow in experience of spirituality..
Regards.

YES, RELIGION IS A PROBLEM. BUT THAT IS ONLY IF THE PERSON MAKES IT ONE. the thing is that it is not about a religion. it is about a relationship with Christ. God made us, we screwed up..... God comes down to try and fix it, we screw up some more. it is a vicious cycle. the difference is that this time, He has chosen to forgive us, and we can develop a real relationship with him. that is what it is about...

but for all of you geeks out there... the answer to the universe is 42

Don't you think the meaning of life is unrelated to many religious pillars? You do realize that a piece of fungus is just as alive as a human being, and there is an equal amount of life in a lawn filled with blades of grass as there is in an entire human population. Many people ask about the meaning of life when they mean "what is the purpose of myself and my fellow humans," and they do not consider that there are many living things that many of our philosophies do not embrace.

The meaning of life is to eat sleep and procreate. That's it. It's universal, for all forms of life. Love, anger, jealousy, are all emotions caused by chemical reactions in the brain and originate from survival instincts. Nothing deeper than that.
