to understand that if people choose to require proof of his existance that we are only doing it because we ARE made in such a way. The doubts and disbeliefs would come naturally in this case. Why shouldn't we demand hard evidence that is acceptable in our eyes. Is it so difficult for an omnipotent god to show his children he exists.

Now, don't slap me with the Jesus plot. I have seen no evidence of him either. The stories of miracles and reserection don't cut it. I havn't seen nor heard proof of this either but I have seen fossils and skeletal remains of distant past life on this planet. To me these things are real and cannot be disputed. Your Bible does not explain these things nor has your God.

I'm not asking you to prove these things I ask you about your God, I'm only asking for you to explain how does one put this much FAITH into something you cannot see, hear or touch. And please don't feed me the line about the Holy Spirit. We are earth manifested and earth bound.

I will remind you, I did not ask for you provide evidence, only to explain the existance of this FAITH. I was most explicit.

So are you telling me that he made you this way? No, sweetie, He did not. What he did do, was give you free will to choose. YOU have chosen to disbelieve. If he revealed himself in way that you would deem as hard evidence, then you would be a mere robot. Is that what you want instead? Does that option sound better? Ask yourself this...Would an omnipotent God want his children to believe in Him and love him soley because they were not given any other choice to do so? This proof that you require would create exactly that type of scenario. Giving His children free will means options. The option to believe or not to believe. Far better to be loved and adored by someone knowing that they had other choices but chose you instead. Isn't that how you want to be loved by someone? Now how does a person, a human, reach that point where this utter "faith" exists? Many atheists want to believe that our coming to faith is pushed down our throats from early childhood. That it is a learned behavior. And I'll agree, for SOME that may be the case. But for many, and I do mean many, it's a dawning that takes many years. It's deep in your soul to seek out what this life on earth is all about. And for many of us, we too have struggled in our early days with these thoughts. Have we considered atheism? Yes, some of us have. Some of us have even lived life as an atheist. Have we looked at evolution? Yes, no doubt, some of us way more than others. And yet, miraculously, we reach a point where the only thing that makes sense to us is that we have a creator. As we read and study the bible, and spend a great deal of time reflecting on ALL our options, we are slowly transformed. And (oops, here I go....) the Holy Spirit begins leading us. Faith is born. Faith is simply a confident belief in truth, value, and trustworthiness of someone or something. Once it starts, it's overwhelming and you are filled with such joy at the mere concept of it that your faith in Him increases daily. Living life as a Christian is not mindless my friend. It's not easy. We are persecuted all over this globe every day. Even in this day and age, many are slaughtered for their belief. We are ridiculed by many and yet we've chosen this path. Imagine that. I wonder how many atheists would be willing to die for THEIR position. I don't need to see a tangible God standing right in front of me to believe. I feel his presence in my life each and every minute. I have not been brainwashed, nor am I living a life of fantasy. You have NO proof that He does not exist and yet atheists are willing to gamble their eternal souls and bank on that. That to me is faith of the worst kind.

Some thoughts: God created us. For us to be an us that is real we have to have free will. The bible says the truths of creation and our creator are made evident by the world around us and written upon our hearts-so it would seem we are born looking up. But we are free. If we saw God everyday even when we had no desire to see him, would that violate our free will to choose the most critical part of our existence-our eternity?

Seek and you shall find, right. Knock and the door will be opened-not walk down the street and some angels will club you over the head and drag you inside. If we want to live our own way apart from God, God lets us here and in eternity. But if we say, "Not my will Father, but yours," a new universe is revealed with new purpose. What seemed hidden is revealed. What seemed lost is found to have always been with us.

They called things abominations not because it made them sick, but because -GOD- commanded them to. People knew what was going on just as much, if not more than what we know is going on now. The Hebrew nation was healthier than all other nations, why? Because they followed God's Law. The Torah is -very- specific about the Laws God gave, some might seem ridiculous, "Wash your bowl on the inside, and it will become clean." Well, if you wash it on the inside, it clears germs and bacteria, people didn't know this. Same with washing their hands, they didn't know bacteria existed or made them sick, they simply did as God commanded, and because they obeyed, they didn't get sick because the germs and bacteria wasn't as prominant. Other nations looked at them and thought, "Why are they so healthy, and without as much disease?" That's why. The majority of the Bible is considered fact, and is the number one book looked to for historical accuracy for the times written. How dare you say that it's mythology!? And it's been proven that Jesus was a man who existed...that's something that's been known for years. You say you see no proof, but skeletons? The Bible is proof, the scriptures were written in those times? Who are you to discredit them, from all the way back then? Yes you accept a skeleton..a mass of calcium...intelligent, not.

I'm a Christian and I agree with you. It's all about figuring out what makes the most sense to you and that decision comes from you and the way you are and the experiences you've had in your lifetime. I'm sure God understands how people come to the conculsions they do and doesn't blame people for thinking Christians are nut jobs. A lot of them are and the people who were unlucky enough to encounter the nut jobs and get soured away have a legitimate reason to believe what they believe.

But since you brought up the Bible, I believe a lot of it is just the Christian version of mythology anyway. It was written by men who didn't know crap about the way things worked then. They said shellfish was an abomination b/c they couldn't refrigerate it and it made them sick. I wish more people would realize these things.

You can not see the air but you can see trees moving, houses be blown over durring tornadoes, your chest moving when you inhale and exhale. You don't need to see the air to know it exist.
Just as I don't need to see God to believe in the evidence that he exist. Many scientist are starting to accept that God is real, you just never hear about it in the main stream media. Even some noble prize winners have excepted God.
You haven't been told the whole truth about Christianity, some of us believe in a very old earth. We believe that all creatures are related by a common designer, but were designed with the ability to make MICRO-evolutionary changes in the species, but no matter how much they change birds remain birds, reptiles remain reptiles... I believe what the evidence has told me to believe. If you want to know more feel free to e-mail me.

faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen. It's written.Try reading some scriptures, there is evidence. Also, He created everything by saying literally, "let there be..." The very beginning of the book of Genesis, states how this the oceans, the sun, the moon were created. So according to who/what you believe created all those things such as night/day,stars/moon, etc....then why not believe or have faith in God?
the creator of EVERYTHING.

*sarcastically* Can you see air with the unaided eye? No, then how do you know it exists?

There's also the "can you see the ozone layer? Then how do you know it exists?" and probably a multitude of other questions that can be "substituted" but the other questions have been shown with science and not just with words based out of an ancient, dusty volume.

I can respect the bible as being old, but not as being the only word. Most people can grasp the idea that older doesn't necessarily mean wiser.

Miracle of the sun Fatima, Portugal, Oct 1917. Lasted for 10 minutes. Witnessed by around 70,000 people, not all of whom were Catholics. The editor of the local newspaper was an Atheist, and wrote up the next day's account in his paper.

Too bad this wasn't in the history books of the school curriculum. Maybe if this was taught in school alongside other negative religious things, there'd be more tolerance.

Christainity is the only religion that believes that there's just one way to God, thru Jesus. I suppose that if you were a non-believer or of the "seeing is believing" line of thinking you might want to check out other religious philosophy. There is a train of thought that believe that the years Jesus is missing in the Bible he was studying Eastern philosophies. His house has many mansions...

there is an old hermetic concept known as rhe principle of duality this concept has been around for 1000's of years dating back to some of the oldest egyptian relgions , It states thta the level at which God exists and the level at which our world exists are completely incompatible , our world exists as a split second thought in the mind of God or the ALL as hermeticicists would refer to him, there is no point in trying to understand or interpret God as it is not within the capabilities of the human mind , one may seek knowledge or proof of his existence on our spritual plane but one will never be able to understand what he is ,or his purpose so why even bother speculating , thats what causes all the conflict is speculation as to the nature of God ,
