I deal with cancer patients and trust me they all look for something to believe in when they know they're going to die. You don't know if you've never been in that situation so....it does matter in these peoples last days

Thank you Stoned Roll ....I understand that. Most people with money don't look for the lord and that's sad.....they feel like they have evreything, but none of these things are earth will matter after death. You take nothing with you. There's only so much I can't tell a person when I'm working because it is a hospital and not all people are looking for the lord....or maybe the one I serve "Jesus Christ" and that limits what I can say....in trying to allow people to hear the word.

First pray about it.Remember God gets what he wants, if he wants you to be a preacher he will make it so.Just keep in mind you can help people in many different ways. Some people give, some pray, some teach, some listen, some lead. Before you go and quit on being a doc try leading a ministry inside your church (men's/women's ministry, recovery ministry,ect..)or leading a bible study. He gives us all different gifts as long as we live by his word and spread his message we are pleasing to him.You will be in my prayers, God bless you.

I will give you the same advice I was given when I was called into pulpit ministry.
If there is anything else you can do to earn a living and still be happy doing it, then by all means STAY OUT OF THE MINISTRY!!!
The ministry is a hard, sometimes lonely life. I know the money is not an issue for you, that can be good, or maybe not. You see a lot of times when you are self sufficient you tend to not look to God as your supply, and can tend to become holier then thou, and prideful. Pride is the downfall of many ministries.
I am not saying you will be this way. Just that they are possibilities, and things to look out for.
Make sure that it is a calling from God, or you will be miserable.
I know this sounded negative, but most people only see the good side of being in ministry, they are on the outside looking in.
After saying all this I have to say that I love the ministry, and I cannot imagine doing anything else. Before I answered Gods call on my life I tried every kind of job I could, and I would get bored and find a new one. I have been involved in pulpit ministry for 12 years now both volunteer and paid. I can say that ministry is the only thing that has kept me happy and loving what I do for all twelve years.

Doctor, I worked with Cancer patients also and I say stay where you are if you have these special feelings of compassion. The right words do as much as all the medicine and you know this in your heart.

If you have a calling on your life nothing can stop you not even being a Dr. Seek God for the answer of rather you should continue practice of a Dr not men and you want go wrong or be confused. God is not the author of confusion.

In this day and age of abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, and other bio-ethical dilemmas we need all the Christian Doctors we can get. I say if you are happy as a doctor, and you are not forced you to commit euthanasia stay a doctor. If you are forced to commit euthanasia find a different place to work.

With no other info, I'd say NO!
A doc can provide good moral advice outside of the context of God and religion - people listen to their doctors!
And you get the added benefit of helping people and saving their lives.
BUT - If you hear a calling.... well then maybe you wouldn't be asking this question...
Good luck!

The world needs more doctors. The missionary work suggestion would allow you to do both.

this, of course, is a personal journey choice. One can always be both a Dr and a Preacher. Search your heart , pray and listen to those around you...you'll find your path soon enough.

Pray ,Pray ,Pray.
You can be both you know.
We have a Doctor in our Church who preaches sometimes.
He is very good.He really has a love for people.
Some times he takes on patience who have no money to go to the doctor.
Think about doing both.
