American believers: would you vote for an atheist as President?
In a Poll last month of 1,010 adults, majorities said Americans are ready to elect a female (61%), a black (58%) or a Jewish (55%) president, but only 14% would elect an atheist.

Would you accept discrimination against Christians?

Bush is a Christian and he is incompetent and supports creationism, so Christian presidents has killed 10 000 of Iraqis and many thousands of his fellow Americans and undermined the scientific thought the basis of America’s greatness

My roommate has just got out of the hospital for surgery on the back of his neck, and now he's been REadmitted to a psych ward for severe anxiety. (They nearly lost him on the operating table and had to revive him, so he's very shook up). Beyond this though, not to sound mean, but my roommate isn't exactly the sharpest crayon in the box. We have alternate lifestyles. I'm a quiet, reserved, homebody college student, and he's a middle aged, recently "out" gay man, who used to frequent the local gay bars every night. Since he's been here, I've had to cover him financially. If I'm going to do that, I decided, I might as well live alone, in a SMALLER apartment that's more affordable. However, I really need my roommate to stay the next two months to help with the bills. How should I bring this issue up? When is an appropriate time? He's still in the hospital now, but I want to give him enough notice to find other arrangements. what should I do?

According to some religions this is true. Anyone know which religions believe in this? Also, its a sin that will keep you out of heaven because only God can take your life as He gave it to you.

If car companies truly were concerned with the safety of the driver, than the vehicles they produce would not reach speeds of 140 mph, 160 mph, 200 mph. There is never a reason to go that fast. Alot of you probably think "The spedomoter says 140, but my car really only goes 90". WRONG I have driven 120 mph with plenty of room to speed up left. It is a joke. Nobody cares about society.

I saw the music video to Snow Patrol's "Chocolate", and it got me thinking...what would I do if I knew the world was about to end in say, 2 hours. What would you do? Something you already love to do? Something you've never done before, maybe something you never thought you had the courage to do? Would you talk to the people you love, and tell them? I just want to know what you would do...it can be stupid, it can be profound, anything.
I would want to tell all my family and friends that I loved them. I know it sounds horrible, but I'd want to have sex (hey, the world's ending, I've heard how great it is, I don't want to die without experiencing it!) and I'd eat some chocolate. lol.

For example, "You have really nice skin."

Is it better to say "Thank You" and be done with it? Does that sound conceited?
Or is it better to respond with something like "It's thanks to my parents," or "It's because the water in the area is really nice."

More Americans die every year from either a drunk driver, or drinking and driving themselves than ANYTHING else. Why are these people so inconsiderate, rude and downright heartless? Why do you like putting yours and others lives at risk? Alcohol should be illegal, one way or another it is bound to kill the person who uses it.

Every president of the US has been a white male protestant (except Kennedy - a white male catholic). Atheists and agnostics have consistently had to vote for christian candidates.

Would you, as a believer, vote for an atheist candidate if they had policies you could support on key issues like education, health and security?

If not - why not?

Ylg, Vin, Vith, Thund, Thjothnuma, Ormt, Not, Nyt, Leiptr, The Kerlaugs, Slith, Sith, Rin, Kormt, Rinnandi, Hvergelmir, Ifing, Holl, Hrenn, Fjorm, Gipul, Gjoll, Tholl, Uth, Vil, Van, Svol, Sylg, Vathgelmir, Strond, Gomul, Gopul, Elivagar, Soekin, Geirvimul, Grath, Vegsvinn, Vond, Vina, Gunnthro, Gunnthorinn.
The proper accents are missing for many, and some use alternative characters. Please keep links to a minimum; wikipedians: please don't give me copied/pasted stuff from wikipedia, or links there, it is a very unreliable site.

I don't mean like Steven Hawking, but are you able to reason and think enough to get by?

If you say yes, what makes you believe that the rest of the universe is just a bunch of dead particles bouncing around for your amusement? Or do you have another way to describe your relationship to the universe?

(Oh, and by the way, I'm an 'atheist' so I'm not trying to draw you into some belief in 'God'. )

I'm just trying to understand what your perceived relationship to the universe is.
