According to some religions this is true. Anyone know which religions believe in this? Also, its a sin that will keep you out of heaven because only God can take your life as He gave it to you.

No it is not true, but we are not wise enough to understand the mercy of the Lord.

Many religions believe that suicide is a sin, and it is, but we are not able to see the end from the beginning in theh way the Lord can, we do not know the thoughts and intents of another's heart, we do not understand their pain and sorrows like the Lord does, let Him be the judge, in the meantime, we need to have the faith to know that He will make it right.

Some religions do believe that you will be able to see your loved ones after you die if you live in a righteous manner. The mormon church, or the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints believes that you can be together with your family forever if you live righteously. The concept of commiting suicide is a touchy subject, however, as to what exactly will happen to you after you die. God knows the circumstances and everything else that led to a person to commit the horrible act of taking their own life, and he will make the final call. My cousin committed suicide and I sure hope that I can see her again.

Suicide is also a sin in Islam. Mohammad said that if a person commits suicide, he will spend eternity doing it over and over again.

However, I think mental illness might make a change in most cases. A sane person would not commit suicide.

Catholics used to believe suicides would go to hell, but that's changed with the understanding of mental illness, depression, and other things.

I personally do not believe it's true. I have also heard stories (I put stock in them, but others might not) of the spirits of loved ones, even loved ones who committed suicide, revisiting the living with messages of comfort.
Even those who killed themselves.

I like to think that after they die, they receive a chance to find peace again, certainly with their loved ones and anybody else they need.

The Bible is silent on this subject, and it is conjectured that it is silent because to call it not a sin would lead people to believe that it is OK to commit suicide, however, on the other hand, the Bible may not want to condemn those who do.

We have to take into consideration one's mental state, mental illness can and does lead to suicide, I know from personal experience, and it is generally true that those who do NOT suffer mental illness do NOT commit suicide.

I think maybe you'll get to see your loved ones, but if they lived more righteously than you, I don't believe you'd get to live with them forever as you'd probably want to. Committing suicide is taking a life. It's not your perogotive to take, any more than taking someone else's life. There are lots of other methods of coping with the hand you've been dealt.

Is it fair that someone who didn't commit suicide didn't have the same depressing life that leans toward suicide?

There is no sin and no hell. When one progresses up the spiritual ladder, one realizes this is so and one realizes why these concepts exist. And ... one's morality is defined by less identification with the self (dispensing with these concepts that seek to define morality by reward/punishment for the 'self').
