Matthew 6:24

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Money.

Matthew 19:21-24

Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

The message is clear. If you want to follow Jesus, you need to "sell your possessions and give to the poor." It is a very simple message, and easy to do. Have you done it? The fact that you are reading this page would indicate that you have not. Chances are you own a computer, pay for an Internet connection every month, live in a home or apartment, have a car, etc. In other words, you live a life at a level of wealth unimaginable in Jesus' time. Meanwhile, billions of people on the planet live in startling, abject poverty.

Why don't you sell everything and follow Jesus, as he requests in the Bible? The reason is simple: Jesus and God are imaginary, and you know it. If Jesus were real, you would do what he says.

For instance the words "to be out" have two directly opposite meanings:
"The sun is out" meaning there is light being illuminated.
"The light is out"meaning there is no light being illuminated.
Does anyone know of any other such words or phrases?

I have a 6 year old boy and 4 year old girl, and normally there is at least 1 thing that they really want each year. This year there isn't, and I am at a loss!! They usually get 1 "big" present each and a couple of smaller ones, then their stockings. Any suggestions, especially for the big ones??

I have many lesbian friends and it seems like many of them have a very deep seated hate for men. Why is that and why do so many of them mimick men in their lives such as being overly masculine in dress and stature?

So often I hear "love" used to mean "sex", and I'm sooooo tired of that definition. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the marriage bed. Can anybody here, though, state different ways to love others, that DON'T include sex?

If you want to tie this into your religion, that is fine also.

I was always taught in school that Jesus spoke Hebrew, but the language of Judea/Israel in those days was Aramaic. And most scholars agree that he spoke Aramaic. So why was I always told he spoke Hebrew.

a lot of people say that all sin is the same in Gods eyes, well I do not see saying a bad word the same as a man raping a little girl and i dont think god sees it as the same but if he did, doesnt that mean the most religious people out there see raping a child the same as saying a bad word and if you do why arent you fighting to get those rapist out of jail because to some of you its the same. Me personally i think a rapist should have his part cut off.

When walking in big cities, I am often hounded by whistles and shouts from young men. I can also tell, say, when I order something at a restaurant, by the way the person looks at me, whether he is attracted to me. I do not dress immodestly. I find this attention very frustrating, but I don't want to dress like Miss Frump in order to remove attention. I want to go into retail business because I love people in general... but I feel like my customers would judge me for my looks. I'm only sixten now, but I already sell things online. Do you think my looks would affect the way customers buy from me if I own a brick-and-mortar shop, and will this attutude change when I'm older?

Look An Evolutionist In The Eye And Tell Me What Do You See?

Before you finish reading this sentence, approximately one hundred billion (100,000,000,000) operations will have been completed inside your eyes. However fantastic it may seem, you possess an example (two, in fact) of the Universe's ultimate technology. No scientist has ever come close to fully grasping it, let alone inventing anything remotely similar.

Insect Eyes

Compared to human eyes, the eyes of insects are considerably different. Their structures come in one of two types, simple or complex.
Among all known species, dragonflies have the greatest number of ommatidia. Each eye contains 30,000 of them, which can clearly see objects up to 20 feet away.
To recap this phenomenon, a single tiny insect has a total of 56,000 eyes, each of which has a lens, retina, and thousands of nerves connecting it to the central nervous system.
As a result of this, the dragonfly can see its prey and understand what it is seeing.

I'm an agnostic, but I cannot ignore the fact that all major world religions (or most of the ancient ones anyway) seem to have one major message at their heart.

Love each other and do unto others as you would have done unto yourself.

Surley that's the whole point and the rest is just what we as human's have added in. If there is a God then surley he would want us to listen to what's at the heart of his holy writtings, instead of all the, go out and kill people parts, or the sexist, racists, ignorant parts...???

Am I really wrong for thinking that religious texts don't actually matter?
