I like female friends because they are more fun and i just love the presence of them.

I have a close circle of friends male and female, the same circle that I have been in since highschool so for life long and best friends I say both.... Now outside of that circle I find that guys are better friends than women

It's not the gender that makes them a good friend. It's more of their personality. Some people find their best friends to be of the opposite sex because they dont judge you as much as a friend of the same sex and vice versa.
For example, my best friend is a female. I can be myself around her without worrying about keeping my masculine persona at all times. I can be emotional or cry in front of her and she will always comfort me but never judge me because of it. I'm not gay, but that is something a male might call me if I was to show any emotion in front of them.
That may not be the same for all people though.

Well, we all have our strengths and our weaknesses, but all-around, I prefer the company of men (I'm female). Men think and act more directly, and often have a more independent attitude to problem-solving.
Women who do not suffer from Baby-Love (women who can't talk about anything but their efforts at conception, their experiences of childbirth and their own babies) also are great company; I am honored to be friends with several women who are clear thinkers, and full of creative power.

I am a 30-year-old straight female.
I have more fun hanging around men than I do women because I am definitely not a lady. Women expect other women to be prim, proper, and discuss womanly things like babies, housework, and decorating, or to be all concerned with politics, world issues, etc. I really don't like to do that. I like watching sci-fi movies, horror movies, fantasy movies, etc. I liked pro wrestling (before it got stupid when the WWF and WCW merged). I play Dungeons & Dragons. I even appreciate a good belching contest (and have won a few myself). Men are just more fun than women.

i would say that girls make better friends to a man.especially if there is an attraction toward the man.thats just my opinion from my experiences.i have many girl-friends and only a few boy-friends.
