Society & Culture - 1 October 2006

Let's face it, we cannot control any other peomrson's behavior and it's commonplace to blame others for the problems in this board (trolls, nasty comments, nasty posts, etc) and it results in a lot of anger, frustration, nasty comments, and makes this one of the most unpleasant places on the Yahoo!Answers board.

All we can control is our behavior and how we react to others.

My promise to you, is that if a question is something where I might answer in anger, I will ignore that post so I don't contribute to the problems by making a nasty post.

What suggestions do you have to make this a better place to be?

I know one of them is Hawaii because I grew up there and it was a popular superstition. A guy I know from Italy says it is a belief there too. But where else?

Oh, btw, it's only good luck if you step on it by accident... well you've got to be desperate for good luck

I see lots of questions here questioning Jesus' sexual preferences. I also see a lot of people give angry answers to those questions.

I truly can't understand that. Wasn't the message of Jesus is His words? I don't judge the words from my gay friends differently than I judge the words of my straight friends.

So, why does it matter if Jesus was gay ?

In the Christian faith, we would call this walking in love, where we do something good for another person, or we might call it doing good works. In the Christian religion even giving a cup of water in God's name is rewarded in heaven (Mark 9:41) if it is given in sincerity rather than for "look at me and how good I am.".

If you are from a different belief system, what would be your basis for doing good works, and is there a specific term for that good behavior?

Atheists...did you know that there is a group within you that are giving you a very very bad name. They mock and blaspheme and incite hatred towards you by their not giving us the respect as believers that you want as atheists ? Did you know that you are suffering because of their behavior ? Seriously I have to honestly say that out of all the other categories on Yahoo Answers, the Religion & Spirituality category displays the highest number of hateful, ignorant, narrow-minded questions and answers of any subject. Why can't people accept everyones different beliefs and try to share knowledge and learn through mature intellectual discussion? Everyone seems to be constantly attacking each other and generally saying rude, ignorant and hateful things about one another.... Athiests attacking Christians, Christians attacking athiests... and every kind of religion and spirituality attacking each other. People are even attacking evolutionary biology or using it to try and disprove religious beliefs... what proof is there that a God didn't create evolution? and where do people think that the theory of evolution tries to disprove the existence of God/s etc??? Evolution has nothing to do with religion OR spirituality, it is science.... Why are people so hateful here??

First off, if you take that offensively, i apologize, but that still will not change me. I use this word just about everyday to friends of all kinds of different backgrounds. I think as long as you are not saying the other word, which is meant racially, that there is nothing wrong with it. I have heard people say that only black people should say it, which is kinda stupid. If you want to do your best to decrease racism, then you must stop categorizing who can and cannot say a certain word. One thing goes for the next person regardless your sex or race.

Ok, I am a Christian too, and because of this, I am suprised how ignorant and stubborn some of you are.
Many of you say something like how homosexuality is deception from the devil and "If you were a true Christian you would change your lifestyle" and the most surprising of all, MANY CHRISTIANS THINK THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS A CHOICE and that all homosexuals are satanic sex maniacs. ridiculous isn't it?
What would you say to an 11 year old homosexual?

Gays/ Lesbians are the same as any other heterosexuals.

But I sort of agree with the changing lifestyles. I think it's Ok if only two homos have a lasting and loving relationship like man and wife.
I am probably not in a place to talk about sexual stuff because I'm only 13.

I hope you understand homosexuality before you quote the bible at us.
I can quote the bible at you saying that everyone on earth is going to hell.
Jesus came down to earth to save everyone from their sins, including Homos...
