I know what most would say. Of course not. But consider this: The strive of modern technology is to keep people alive longer. Due to this, we have an overpopulation dilemma. When someone gets a disease, we cure the disease, more people are alive to populate the Earth and destroy the environment. We consume our resources at an alarming rate, until our planet is barren. In this light, technology is a cancer. As horrible as it sounds, without technology, people would have shorter lifespans, more people would die and we would solve our population problem. I know the irony of me typing this on Yahoo, but bear with me. Just a theory.

As an Atheist do you consider yourself more of a spiritualist or materialist. If either do not apply then try to explain what you would consider yourself.

It sounds like you guys have fun with your costume planning, etc - I've seen a lot of questions pertaining to this.

In Oz we "do" halloween, but nowhere near to the level that you guys do.....wonder why not?

I moved all the way across the country to be closer to my boyfriend of a year. He went on Spring Break to Mexico while I stayed back. I really did not feel comfortable with him going for I know what goes on during Spring Break. He did call me every day though and promised me he would not do anything to hurt me while he was away. While he was away I had been asked to model at the Maxim party in Boston and had found a new job. So he came back and I was doing well, but he could not sleep at night. Turns out he had cheated on me on Spring Break, the dumbass left his e-mail account open and the girl had written to him. She did not even know he had a girlfriend. I called him out on cheating and he said he wasn't going to tell me since he did not want to hurt me. What really sucked is he slept with me right when he got home, that really was not cool and I made him get tested. Anyways, he said he could not give me a reason why he did it. Why would someone cheat on someone they love?

Martin Luther was the first to translate the Bible into the native langage of his country (German) so that common people could read it for themselves. In his first translation he actually left out the commandment about not making graven images - just because he personally didn't agree with it!! He went on to revise his own translation over 40 times during his life. (and was more or less forced to put back in the commandment he left out!!)

So, what does this say about the accuracy and infallability of the Bible that you read every day?

I'm looking around, and I feel like I'm stuck in the middle.

Although there are a few almost-enlightening ideas in it, the Bible is mostly just endless fairy-tale. I see no real value in it... and it is in no way "the word of god"

Now hear me out...

I do believe in Jesus the Man, not Jesus the myth. The more I think about his story, the more I take away from it.

I also believe in God. Not as a supreme being... But as existence... pure and simple existence.

To me God is the state of being and awareness.

I also do not believe in heaven, an eternal afterlife seems rediculous. I believe that our lives are everything. Nothing exists beyond them, because nothing can exist beyond everything.

Maybe heaven is accepting that fact... maybe heaven is feeling that you've made the lives of others better.

Regardless of all that...
I have no place in my life or my heart for things like the church or the bible... They do NOTHING for the spirit. What am I?

That is, there are people who may be naturally disposed to lesbianism and others who are naturally inclined to be straight. But can preferences shift, if only ever so slightly? I didn't like coffee the first few times I tried it, but now I like it alot.
