Absolutely plagues me.
It's what separates me from a sociopath.

The recognition of it being a lie shows a remorse not only for the action, but the word to associate with the action as well.
If one did not have a conscience bothering them, then the word lie would not be an issue.

Of course it does. Having a conscience has nothing to do with religion or belief in god. I know right from wrong, I know lying is wrong, therefore, I try to not do it at all. But if I'm forced to (even then innocent "yes, that shirt looks good on you" variety), I feel horrible.

Yws, it eats at me and eats at me until I make it right. So, I try not too lie. Did you ever tell a lie that was so dumb you don't why you said it? Like someone says hey did you see this movie and you say yes when in fact you did not? Why?

No. Some things I need to lie about and my survival instinct overrides my conscience.

Yes. Humans are animals with emotions. Sometimes situations forced us to tell lies that we don't wish to. But i think if it doesn't cause any harm, but good... then why not? We all want to live in a better world right? We are not born a liar, we learn and were trained to be one, it also needs courage...
