No. My only real problem is with slander.
By the way, I believe there's not just governmental censorship. When a large corporation like Clear Channel or Wal-Mart can order bands to change their songs or they won't get played or sold, that's a kind of censorship, too.

No. An informed populace is the best defense against tyranny, and censorship by definition places some views and information out of reach of the populace. Great question to ask during Banned Books week!

No, I don't believe in censorship.
I believe in teaching young people to tell the difference between reality and fantasy, giving them the mental and moral grounding to process information, and to teach them tolerance and respect.
I also believe that people should be allowed to say, write and otherwise create whatever they want to, provided they do not force it on anyone who does not wish to consume it, and that there are no unwilling participants in it's creation (so no, I'm not saying that people should be able to blast profanity laden rap music in public places or that people should be able to make sex movies with children)
I believe that people should be allowed to watch, read, listen to anything they wish, provided that they are equally prepared to accept responsibility for their choices and anything they may do that comes from that choice (no blaming Playboy for having raped someone, no claiming that a horror movie made you kill)
Some censorship is inevitable, and there are obviously some things that a vast majority of us would not want to see. I know where my line is, but I'm not arrogant enough to think that my line is the one that should be applied to everyone else.

No . because we are intitled to the truth . even if it makes some people uneasy or embarassed.
I saw an answer with the word nudity in it . took no offense.in fact it remined me of a couple of verses that are in the bible on it .
closer to GOD is the person that can stand on their clothes and not feel ashamed of what the gave them.
And you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven til ye become as little children knowing no fear or shame.

I find ironic and out right stupid that the FCC censors speech on radio and TV in a so called free country. On one hand the FCC thinks it an outrage if people hear the word **** on the air waves and yet so many shows on TV show violence and sex (not graphic sex of course). Seems we have our priorites completely turned around

Have you never been to a chat site where there is no censorship? They are terrible. People revert back to something in the human race that is incredibly sick and so very wrong. Not something you would want for your kids or yourself if you live a Christian life, which I do. Censorship is a very necessary thing by all means.

As a poet and playwriter, I find it the greatest obstacle to perform our art to it's best.
It's our ennemy. Those wolves crossdress into politicians and religious try hard to get our work banished in the fear that we provoke people to think beyond what these people show them.
Parents can control their children from getting access to artworks which are classified according to age permitted. I can't see anything but the fear to that we make people see beyond their limited ways to think and see.

Consider Japanese television, which is pornographic under our terms, yet they have 1/10 the crimes against women, per capita. The same applies to Nevada, where they have legal prostitution, yet they have the lowest rates per capita of rape, even with their much higher number of tourism.
Censorship is a ticklish issue as our society is made up of so many different types of people with so many different types of beliefs.
