I've been guilty of it myself. But if we ignore them-and you know who I'm talking about-maybe they'll go away once and for all! Who's with me?

I am turning 16 in two weeks, and I dunno wut to do. I want to have a party, but the weekend before my birthday, which is on a tuesday, is fall break, and ppl will be on vacation. the weekend after my birthday is our school's homecoming. the weekend after that is the other school's homecoming, and half my friends go to that school. the weekend after that is halloween weekend, and ppl will be having halloween parties and stuff. even though it is my sweet 16, it doesnt feel that special, because i dont get my license or a car, cause i dont drive yet, i havent even learned how, and so nothing special will be occurring. there will be no rite of passage for me on this day. so...
-should i have a party in november?
-should i have one at all?
-should i make it a birthday/halloween party? (even though pink puffy sweet 16 decorations dont mix with witches and pumpkins...)
i have thought a lot about this and now...i am tired of thinking.

Here's the situation:

I'm a medical student who was assigned to a preceptor for the last 3 years. I just finished a 2 month rotation with this preceptor, and absolutely loved the entire experience. I wanted to show my appreciation, so without really thinking it out, I wrote a thank you card and gave my preceptor a vase as a gift when I said my goodbyes.

However, after talking to other med students, I found out that cards and gifts are not typically given, and people might think that the gift-giver has an ulterior motive and is a kiss-up.

I don't want to be a suck-up! All I wanted to do was show my thanks. But I already gave my gift... So how do I gracefully get myself out of this mess? Please don't say the damage is irrepairable....

John 3:16
"For God so loved the World that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life."

3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
3:18
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
3:19
This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
3:20
Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
3:21
But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."

We are moving to a new state and my friend has offered to come up and help me unpack and set up the new place. The problem is, were living in a small apartment in a big city and have no children, and if she brings her young daughter it would just be too much to accommodate while I am trying to settle in. Plus, it will be our first weekend there, and my husband and I wanted to check out some restaurants and museums, and we would like to do all that with my friend.
My fear is she is not planning to bring her yet, but at the last minute her husband will bale out on her and she will say "Looks like I have to bring (*daughter*)..." (historical)
Is there a polite way to make sure it is just her, or is it just rude to not want her kid there while I am trying to get settled?

There have been several different kinds and are all over the place: my bedroom, my car, my kitchen, my deck, etc. Only 2 of them have been the same kind. Are there any superstitions or myths that spiders symbolize something?

How hard is it to drive around them?
A couple of hours ago I saw a squirrel that had been hit in the middle of the road, and it was still alive and moving, but it's probably been run over a dozen more times by now. This wasn't even an extremely busy road, and the speed limit is only 45 there. They could easily have driven around the squirrel. I hope they get run over themselves.
