Why do we capitalize He and Him when referring to God or Christ, but in the Bible itself those words are lowercase?
Should Bibles be printed with God's pronouns in uppercase??

Most bibles---when referring to God, capitalize the pronoun. Only a few bibles don't.

Yes they should!

To create distinctions. It should be noted that the capitalized form of LORD is spelled YHWH in the oldest scrolls. It is replace with LORD because of superstition and the belief that if the scriptures are dropped, dirt could get on God's name and defile it. So in reading the Bible, every time you come across the word LORD, you should say YHWH or Jehovah.

My dad who was a pastor before he retired always capitalized Lord, He, Him when referring in writing to God. I asked him once why he did this and he said it was a sign of respect for Him (God) as the one we worship. It's to differentiate God and man when using pronouns.

Think of it this way: when you are referring to Him with just a pronoun, you know who I'm speaking about as opposed to the human person.

It all depends upon what Bible you are looking at. Also, since we are posting here it makes it easier for someone who isn't a believer to understand that when we are talking about He, or Him, we are referring to God or Jesus and it's just a sign of respect and recognition on my part at least. I also capitalize the word Scriptures for the same reason.

Personally, I capitalize when I'm writing or typing "He" or "Him" out of respect for my Savior. I haven't looked at any of the new translations lately. They may be capitalized but I have no idea. I don't believe there is any need to change the Bibles for this reason.

Many Bible do have all references to God capitolised. I'm not really certian I guess it's cuz God is the "best" and all proper nouns are supposed to be capitolised and there is nothing better or more proper than him. Thats how I've always looked at it, as sort of a respect thing.

I capitalize He, and Him when referring to Jesus. It is out of admiration and respect. I have never noticed it in the Bible, but I have never looked though. I think it would be nice if someone did that.

I think it's more of the English language then anything; for example when you talk about a president it's lower. but when referring to the President, or President Bush as a title it's upper. granted I'm not an English major, but that's what I see.
