And what does reporting this question achieve?

2006-08-11 13:07:10 · 22 answers · asked by Anonymous in Etiquette

I believe in a single all-powerful all-knowing God.
I believe that there is no one true religion, there are many paths to divine glory.
I believe in the Golden Rule.
I believe that God favors tolerance and love over hatred and closed-mindedness.
I do not believe that Jesus was God or the Son of God (any more than all of us are the children of God). I believe that he was a prophet, just as Moses, Abraham and Mohammad were.
I do not believe that our religious texts (bible, torah, q'oran, etc...) are written by God. I believe they are important philosophical and ethical guides that were written by man, but inspired by God.
I do not believe that homosexuals are evil or are hated by God. They are God's children just like the rest of us.
I do not believe that abortion is evil if done for the right reasons (life of mother, rape, etc...).
I believe that religion is a personal choice, and should not infringe upon personal rights.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

it just feels like muslims are victimes of dirty game drawing against them.

we are living in the 21 century, and the only countries that are occupying and attacking comes from the west. 9/11 has been done by a group of religious gangs, but attacking Iraq and destorying constructions in lebanon has been done by Governments who carry the name of their country. and it feels like muslims are victimes of a nasty game drawing against them.

Jesus told this very wealthy man as he was walking with him. "It's easyer for a camel to jump over the eye of a needle then it is for a rich man to get into heaven." Jesus mentioned of an eye of a needle when the eye of the needle wasn't even invented until the 1650's. The needle been around for 30 thounsand years, but they started to manufacture the needle with an eye so the thread can get throw in 1650. If Jesus metioned this to this man, then how could this man understand what Jesus ment if he never seen an eye of an needle before?

I started high school a few days ago, with the hopes of meeting a few intelligent people and having some intelligent conversations. A few classes into the first day, my hopes were effectively quelled. The people there... they just can't think. They don't know much about important subjects (science, history, math), but they know plenty of crap about music and pop culture.

I consider myself unique, and rightfully so. I have an I.Q. of 135, I get nice grades when I'm not defying the teacher for whatever reason, and I have a tight grasp on the English language. I can't say that about my classmates. They can't spell, their grammar is abysmal, their math skills are comparable to an average third-grader's, and they just can't seem to use their brains. I can think, and apply my bank of knowledge to situations. Their bank is more like a box stashed under a mattress. Why is this? And why was I blessed with the gift of thought and brightness when they're so pathetically dull?

I have a disabled son who has not been helped by 'God', he is one of the nicest people you could meet. My father died at age 29, I was too young to know him, but I am told he was a good man, he was not helped by 'God'. I have have asked for proof of a god but none is forthcoming. The Islamic religion wants to wipe out anyone who disagrees with their belief, despite the fact that their 'God' is a figment of their imagination, just like the rest. Why do you swallow the religious nonsense?

I here that we are not very popular in most societies. But why? All we want to show is that you can live your life without religion. That the discoveries made by Science are not feared but rejoiced.

Every religion has a creation story, each is unique. But the one thing they have in common is there is no physical evidence. It is only in the believers "faith" do they see the evidence.

Science is the only one that has physical evidence on where we came from. It's called Evolution by the means of Natural Selection.

Science is only a tool. A tool we use to see the awesome machinery of nature. If Science reveals that we all life on this planet is related, then it is true.

And THAT is an awesome and humbling thought!

He walked on water. Levitated from one building to the other, two things similar to what jesus did. He turned a water into a beer. He went through a woodcutter and blood was spraying out and bones were chipped everywhere then he came back. If a guy can do this it would be easier back then cus people were mor gullable back then. So either Criss Angel is the reincarnation of Jesus or Christianity has some things to work out.

Christians continue to deny the possibilty of evolution because the bible says we are created from dust and Adam and Eve are the first humans; even though there is countless evidence that make me believe that evolution is the only thing that makes logical sense. I don't believe in aliens. But I believe it is possible that there is life on other planets, I mean this universe is too big for us to be the only lucky ones blessed with life. Suppose aliens really came to Earth, or we discovered their planet, do you think Christians would still say that aliens don't exist because God says we are the only beings in the universe? They seem to ignore things like dinosaur fossils, so would they also ignore seeing an alien creature face to face? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

It will stream behind them as they walk to the microphone, inciting a raucous disruption by the entire audience.

Supposedly Jesus performed so many miracles:
- raised people form the dead
- turned water into wine
- walked on water

The diciples, if they really witnessed that, had no choice but to believe. It wasn't hard for them, they saw proof.
Those that say "We need faith in God, that's why he doesn't reveal himself" - consider then why did Jesus "perform" so many miracles?

Why doesn't god reveal itself to us now, so we could record it scientifically, retransmit the proof, and proclaim that god does exist.
If god could do that then we wouldn't need people trying to convince non believers of god.
If god doesn't exist what would you expect:
- No evidence of god,
- Many various religions saying they know god
- Unsubstantiated accounts of miracles (like Jesus)

Or, put another way: exactly what we see now.

Holy books are not proof by the way. They are just books, ripe for the flushing at http://flushaholybook.com
