The Hebrew Bible, or the Christian Old Testament, is a collection of stories that were passed down through an oral tradition. They were eventually written down and passed down that way. They were all handwritten, and errors could have occurred with the new editions. When Christianity started, the oldest books in the New Testament were written about 50 years after Jesus died. There wasn’t a set book either. Each congregation probably had a few copies of letters from Paul and some other writings. When the Christians had the Hebrew Bible, they needed it translated into Latin. It wasn’t until Constantine commissioned to have books made for him did the Christians sit down and make a canon. Books went in, and books went out. Not all of the books were written in the same language in the first place. A lot of redacting occurred.

I'd also like to point out that all of the letters attributed to Paul were not written by him. Some were written in the spirit of Paul, which was an acceptable for of authorship at the time. The gospels attributed to Mark, Matthew, and Luke, were not written by them either. The church made those attributions a few hundred years after they were written!

The bible was written by hebrew prophets> over 40 writers, 66 books (72 for catholics) 3 languages, 3 continents, over 1500 years to complete both the new and old testament> yet all the writers wrote so collectively because they were inspired by God to write about the central message which is our salvation through the messiah (Jesus)>

Over 40 different authors wrote the Bible over a period of 1600 years. God directed and blended their distinctive inputs into this inspired, infallible and complete revelation. A single unified theme and no contradictions demonstrates its miraculous nature. Each of the 66 books bears God's stamp of authority and authorship. Applying the law of probability ot the Bible's fulfilled prophecies, the statistrician, Gallup, claimed to have proved God mathematically.

Its message is that man can be accepted by God, through Jesus Christ alone.

Certain facts, unknown to man when the Bible was written, reveal its Author is all-knowing. Archaeological discovery often underlines its historical accuracy. The Bible's deep insights into human nature indicate the mind of the master physchologist, who knows exactly how we 'tick'.

God speaks to all honest, humble, seeking readers of the Bible. Why not read part of John's gospel, the 4th book of the New Testament, each day? Pray that God will speak to you. You will find God in His Word.

Christianity is @20030 years old my friend. The Christian faith grew out of the Hebrew religion which dates back to the beginning of man. It is certainly the number one best seller of all time and is much more than just a book. Archaeologists rely on the Bible for ANE research and site excavation, Did you know that scripture told us the earth was a sphere 5000 years ago, and men in the 1400's thought it was flat? cool huh.
Anyways, Christianity is the result of the promissed Messiah who came to the Hebrews, they rejected Him and we "the gentiles" accepted Him. We are really a part of the oldest faith on the earth.

the bible was written by men chosen by God to write it. the names of the men are sometimes on the first page of each book (genesis, exodus, lev...) but it is my belief that God wrote the Bible through these men. it was written for our guidance it was written wherever the writer was at that time. and parts of the bible could be 3500 years old because the old testament was written before Christ
