I have a disabled son who has not been helped by 'God', he is one of the nicest people you could meet. My father died at age 29, I was too young to know him, but I am told he was a good man, he was not helped by 'God'. I have have asked for proof of a god but none is forthcoming. The Islamic religion wants to wipe out anyone who disagrees with their belief, despite the fact that their 'God' is a figment of their imagination, just like the rest. Why do you swallow the religious nonsense?

The belief in God, heaven, an afterlife, whatever, gives people hope and a feeling of comfort. Many people cannot bear to think that this world is all they get, that after this is over they are done, for good. Also, these people are selfish, whether they admit it or not. To them they are just so damn important that there must be a higher being to give them an afterlife. We die, we rot, our bodies return to the earth and we cease to be....that is all, we are completely alone, it sucks, but live with it.

I'm sorry your son is disabled, but aren't you happy to have him? Is he not a light in your life, a gift? Not the healthy child we all want, but perhaps he has something else? Maybe something more important, more special?

God is not a genie who grants wishes. We all want things, some more important than others, and what you desire seems to be up there at the top of the list, so I'm not saying its not important, just that He doesn't work like that. I see life as a trial, if we pass, we have no further pain or suffering, no matter what we may have endured in this life. Life is short compared with eternity, just a drop in the bucket. Seems like forever, but its not.

First, you need faith, then you need understanding and patience. It's hard having faith without evidence, but the alternative isn't worth it, at least not for me. I'm sorry your life is such a trial, and will keep you and your son in my prayers. Don't worry, you don't have to believe to be prayed for, doesn't hurt a bit, and it can't hurt. God bless you.

Faith is acceptance without proof. Everyone has to find God in their own way. Some through organized religion, some not. It is very hard to have faith in this world, but sometimes it is all we really do have. Every religion has its fanatics, fundamentalists who believe theirs is the only way to live. It is my belief that they will be dealt with in due time.

I do not have an answer for you. No one knows the mind of God, though some think they do. Your son is still here, though he is broken. Treasure each day with him and go for the positives. Don't give up, there is still time for prayers to be answered.

I can only wish you the best, and hope and pray for better.

That's what faith is, not having to have proof before your eyes. You can't expect God to hear you if you have not listened to him. I pray that your child will do well with whatever disability the child has. I too have a child with disabilities. It can be really hard to have faith in that circumstance. Have you ever even really tried really believing and asking God to give you the faith? If you ask and believe, you will receive. Now that doesn't mean that you will get everything you ask for, as it is done according to God's will, not ours. You might, however, be enlightened as to the purpose of why your circumstances are as they are. I have found that dealing with my child's disability as made me stronger and I have gained much knowledge on the subject. I have been of assistance to parents of like situation that have not the patience or strength to deal with it. So, I have been a help to them. My child will grow to be a strong personality as well. My relationship with God is not nonsense in my eyes. You seem to really be searching for answers, if it comes from deep with in your heart, you may find some.

Whether or not God helps a person according to your definition of what constitutes "help" and according to your very limited knowledge of what God does and does not do is not a valid reason to claim He doesn't exist. However, asking about faith in an invisible God is certainly a valid question.

I would refer you to the Answers button @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/ and you can find many convincing proofs about the existence of the God of the Bible.

Personally, while I enjoy reading those articles where they weave science and history in with the accounts given in the Bible I don't need them as a basis for my faith. The invisible God of Heaven has given me sufficient proof of His existence during my life time through answered prayers, leadings of his Holy Spirit, and other personal events in my life and in the lives of others whom I know.

If you are truly a seeker then write to me and I'll share some of them with you.

well I am sorry to hear about your situation, however it is mostly people in your situation that seek the face of God to find peace. Well I think the story of Job is a perfect example of faith in God. Job endured even worse things then you are going through and he never lost his faith in God and at the end the Lord blessed Job even more then he did before. So I suggest maybe stop saying God didn't help me and think if you really seeked his presence first.

Many things in life seem hard to believe. I find it hard to believe that life just somehow started, like out of a rock or something and I find it hard to believe we developed from a germ. This is an amazing world and as we get to know and understand things our beliefs change. When one comes to know God it changes everything and its such a sure belief because then all things start making sense. Maybe you've looked in the wrong places. God has revealed Himself in His Word and it is no coincidence that Jesus is called the Word.
