Ive wondered that myself. It's so aggressive to deny people salvation just because they don't believe in a god. I would think that if there were such a thing as god, that he would be less small minded than people are and that he wouldn't condemn people for not believing in him. It's so human to be so judgmental and so not godly. If I were god I wouldn't give a damn if people didn't believe in me 'cause I would now I was right and I would probably be highly amused by the surprised look on the faces of nonbelievers when they died and met me.

I know a non-christian can find salvation. My husband did and he made a complete 180. God is good and he loves and wants all of us to believe. Everyone was a non christian at one time or another.

Christianity is not an exclusive process to attain salvation, this type of fundamental sectarianism is the cause of much of the violence in the world today.
God is not Christian, Hindu, Muslim or Judaic, just like there is one sun, but the sun is not American or African or Indian etc.
The purpose of real religion is to develop love for God, with every thought, word and deed on the platform of loving devotional service, this is the standard of real Spirituality, along with compassion for all living entities and the development of world peace, this can be achieved, along with salvation, by any genuine religious process, sometimes God comes to the material world himself to attract us, sometimes he sends his bona-fide representative, the representative says "Love my Father" the Father says "Love me" the message is the same.

First we need to determine which God we are talking about here. Are you referring to the real God, the unconditionally loving God who we are all a part of? This is the one Jesus was talking about when he said the kingdom of God is within you. The one who is our dearest friend and closest companion.
Or are we talking about the angry little judgmental God that lives on some far off cloud called heaven. The one who seems to be more concerned with our errors than he is with our successes? You know the egocentric needy little God that always wants people to worship him. The one who is always unavailable because he is only a fantasy? You need to specify if you want a real answer.

Christian means," follower of Christ", right?
I guess I'd ask you what do you need "salvation from"?
Well my answer would be, salvation from "sin". We all have it we were born with "Original Sin" on our souls, Sorry that's a fact, due to Adam & Eve's original Sin, Look it up in Genenis. So having that sin on our souls we do not belong to the Body of God. BUT once we are baptized that sin is washed away, now we are "children of God"
If you don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God , and that Jesus came to earth to "save " us from our sinful ways, and that His dying on the Cross was our SALVATION then you are not saved and you will not enter the Kingdom of God. You must BELIEVE in God with all your heart, soul, mind in order to be saved.....ie have salvation.....

Non-Christians can find salvation by committing their lives to Jesus Christ.
For a brief explanation of the gospel (of salvation through Jesus Christ), see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html

Because no matter what religion you ascribe to, at a certain point you must believe that yours is the best or only way.
I'm very fond of the Gandhi quote, "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ."

you dont have to be Christian to be saved. God never said that your religion would save you. the bible says those who believe in Christ and accept him as their lord and personal savior will be saved. most people believe non-Christians are going to hell ( if they dont change there ways ) because the meaning of the word Christian is follower of Christ . you have to be a follower of Christ , you can be a follower and have your religion (baptist, pentecostal etc) as long as it allows you to FOLLOW him and accept him as you lord n savior . religion is nothing, God didnt make religion. Man did. to enter the kingdom of heaven you have to have a Christ like mind. following his scriptures and living by his word. if you are not Christ like ... then who are you like ?. you are ether on the left or the right. with Jesus or your not. that is why people believe that followers of Christ ( if they are living correctly, and truly have faith ) will be saved. and those who are not with Christ ( if they dont repent ) will go to ..
