Because you base your beliefs on a man made idea, and not of God. You believe in a magical existance, and not a devine one. All magic is of the devil, and indicates trickery. As you have been tricked into believing.

I have NEVER heard of any atheist being called a devil worshipper. And believe me, I've known and/or currently know, many atheists (and agnostics too)! None of these folks have complained to me about people calling them devil worshippers, and I attribute this to the fact that MOST people are smart enough to realize that an atheist believes in NO god, NO divine beings, NOTHING. Satan, by definition, is a divine being, so obviously an atheist would not believe in him.
I think only completely IGNORANT people would accuse an atheist of being a devil worshipper. Hopefully such people can be taught the error of their thinking, because it's a very BIG boo-boo!

Atheists DON'T worship the devil, they ARE the devil!!! They should be burned at the stake, then eaten by the purest children in the village (only the white meat of course, as not to make them fat). That way, MAYBE they have a chance to get to heaven, that is, after they have been shat out like the very excrement that they are!!
Plus, all the Atheists that I know seem to try and scare poor innocent Christians with evil symbols and unholy actions. Is this not deviliness? Why is this, Mr. El Jefe man? I spit on you and your crazy evilness. Petewee!

I haven't called anyone a devil worshiper, but hey if you don't worship the devil then you're not a devil worshiper so tell them that next time someone says that to you or just ignore them. People get so worked up over religion and its important but when people go around insulting other people's beliefs its not giving them any 'points' for their own.

It's the "you're either with us or you're against us" mentality. That line of thinking is actually a logical fallacy called "the false dilema". From Wikipedia: "The false dilema involves a situation in which two alternative points of view are held to be the only options, when in reality there exist one or more alternate options which have not been considered. The two alternatives presented are often, though not always, the two extreme points on some spectrum."
Thus, the thinking goes: "If you don't worship God, you must worship the devil". Only the two most extreme options are considered when in fact there exists one or more alternate options.
Also, it comes across as a scare tactic. "If you don't believe in my deity, you are evil and will suffer forever". Failure to worship in the way of the accusor constitutes automatic damnation. "My way or the highway".

They are imposing their own religious dogma outside of their bounds. I don't know where they get the right to do that. Their own religious beliefs should only be applied to the members of that organization.
There is also an element of ignorance since they cannot seem to understand that Satan is only applicable to the Abrahamic faiths, and it does not fit into other people's belief systems. I cannot express enough that Atheists, Agnostics, Wiccans, Pagans, etc., cannot worship Satan since he doesn't exist in their belief systems.

As an atheist I know you don't believe in God or Satan. However, Satan is the one who has pulled the wool over your eyes. He doesn't really care whether or not you believe in him,. Just so long as you don't believe in God, he's a happy camper.
I pray that you will hear the calling of God to your heart and soul. He's trying to reach you. He loves you so much that He sent Jesus here to die for your sins (and mine). God bless!

They believe you're on one side or the other.
I personally haven't experienced christians calling atheists devil worshipers, but I have seen them do it to wiccans, who also don't believe in Satan.

Many christians (not all) take their symbolism far to literaly. Many fundamentalists churches have a very primitive view that if it is not christian it is satan. This view has extended from everything from pokemon to life saving genetic research. Athiests who do not believe in God are believed to be not of the symbolism of yahweh (or sometimes Christ) and therefore satanic. Its best to just ignore them and let them sing yub nub around their fire.
To quote Jim Morrison
People are strange. When you're a stranger.

I'm not sure how you could not believe there is a God but the Bible gives no place to be neutral...It says you either serve Satan or God...So if you are sincere about not believing in God then you have no qualms about sinning which puts you in Satan's ballpark...Please do more studying about God's plan for you to be saved through the blood of Jesus on the cross...Hell is too horrible to take the chance and you only have a life time to change your mind..After you're dead, it's too late....Think about God saying "I know you not" I'll pray for you...
