I have a name that is unusual in America. It is a CURSE. People are always messing up the spelling and pronunciation, or they hassle me about it.
Here's the litmus test for whether a name is too weird or not: go around using it for a week. Introduce yourself as "Monita" to new people, and answer the phone as "Monita." Put it on a name tag if you have to. Use the name and find out how it feels. If it feels awkward, then DON'T give it to a kid.

Not sure. If it is too unusual, naming your kids wierd names can lead to other children being abusive and nasty as a consequence.

I kinda don't, honestly. What's the middle and last names?
My niece is Monica and I've never been crazy about that name either.

Too many things can rhyme with it. You'd get picked on in school for sure.
