I see evolutionists say that humans and apes share a common ancestor, yet I’ve never seen anyone identify who this common ancestor is. According to the theory of evolution, how do we get from nothing to man?

Yea I know this is the religion and spirituality section, but this is where I first saw the common ancestor……..

what is the difference between making generalisations about a gropu of people, be it muslims, catholics, jews or hoodies, young people, prostitutes. If I said Muslims women wear stupid clothes, which they do, I would be racist, apparantly. If I said prostitues wear stupid clothes, which they don't, I wouldn't be racist, but what's the difference? and should we be allowed to have racist views? as long as we don't bully or attack physically anyone for it. And am I a racist for disliking muslims, for their religious beliefs, or is it only colour that constitutes race? Help me out on this, because I get chastised for my dislike of muslims, and I don't think it's fair!

1) saying that it has to be taken in context

2) saying that it has to taken in the context of the time it was written

3) saying "oh, but that's the old testament that doesn't count anymore ......... except of course when it can back up our arguments"

4) being able to randomly choose which bits are to be taken literally and which bits are to be taken as a metephor.... as the need arises.

The same excuses could be used for any document.

I mean, look at it this way, sperm and an egg meet, they are not human. They become a bunch of cells that "Evolve" into a human. Wouldn't that be the concept of evolution? If this happens in 9 months, who's to say that in a million years one species didn't evolve into something else?

launch a hateful tirade against you, telling you how foolish you are because you refuse what they believe or quote scripture to tell you how evil you are or best of hall smugly tell you you will burn in hell for all eternity

but

At the end of the hateful tirade, they add...... "god bless you" or " I will pray for you" or even "Hugs".

Does adding something like this excuse the hate that preceded it ?

If you are going to be nasty and hateful, fine, but don't try to dress it up.

Note : I said CERTAIN christians, a definite minority.

A lot of people (more than usual) have been comming up to me lately and asking me if I am a witch. Two elderly women last month told me I am a natural witch. I don't know what a witch is supposed to look/act like. How can I know for sure I am a witch?

Christians, what type of stones should I use when stoning my unruly child in accordance with the bible ?
"And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die"

I ask many questions. Sometimes to get many opinion, different inputs, or to just learn as much as I can about my fellow man and his beliefs. Most of my questions are not yes/no's. I get the opinion some people think these are the only questions we should ask here. What do you think?

Could communism, facism etc be considered as religions in themselves ?

Or at least could they be considered a very close cousin to religion ?

I ask this because many theists attempt to show the "evilness" of atheism by saying communist russia was atheist.

While thinking about this I wondered if in fact religion had more in common with communism.

Have you ever seen the air?
No one has seen the air.
You can hear it.
You can feel it.
But you can't see it.
So how do you prove it exists...?

I can hear God.
I can feel God.
But for me to prove to you that He exists, i would have to SHOW you God.
But until you can also hear Him and feel Him, you will never 'see' Him.

Would a Christian who doesn't believe in Zeus read the Illiad by Homer, because it is great literature?

Would people who don't believe fairies and orcs have a reason to read Lord of the Rings?

I heard about this book called The Davinci code, in the fiction category, with 65 million readers. I wonder if anyone who read that was a Christian who believes Jesus never got married.

Isn't it nice to wonder about great literature and read the great books that have been written?

Did you ever notice that people will post questions and choose the best answer that is most similar to their thought process?

For example: My husband looks at porn, what should I do?

8 out of 10 answers said, "nothing, porn is natural for men to look at".

The best answer she choose was a closed-minded individual who blasted pornography.

Some people seem to post opinion questions and will only understand the answers they agree with. That frustrates the helI out of me.

It's mostly women, too!
