i dont use TP.. i just save myself time and drag my butt on the floor till it is clean. of course then we have the issues of skid marks in the living room. but hey at least my butt is clean. and the carpet is much softer than 2 ply..

there is many like Scott paper they only have one ply and stronger, but the reason that most toilet paper are double ply, is because is better to decompose in the water when people flush them down the toilet.

I don't use it unless really necessary. It's a rip. Scott has a great one ply. Walgreens and Safeway have a really good clone 1 ply. Save a little money.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the toilet paper company's profits. It might be cheaper to make thinner 2-ply

why not use reuseable rags? You can hand wash the rags after each use.
Use reusable toilet rags in public washrooms-at homes everywhere-
think how cheap it would be. You just replace the rag once a year
