Morality and ethics are a way for the human race to survive each other. They are taught in religion but do not come from any god.
Religions serve the purpose of giving humans something to look forward to and a reason to live a moral life. I will not state what my personal religious beliefs are because it doesn't matter in this context.
I know many non-religious people who are very good people. They would give the shirt off thier backs to help someone in need. They would never do anything underhanded to benefit themselves or others. They always work hard for what they have and teach their children wrong from right. I repeat, morality and ethics are not about religion. They are about the survival of mankind.

At one time the church helped people to stay on the right path and develop morals and ethics. I feel that as Britain becomes more diverse in terms of religions and the CHurch Congregations are dwindling that this part of childrens education is lacking. So yes children need to be taught right from wrong etc in a non-religious context.

Yes!!!
In a modern world policed by governments and supposedly tolerant of all, where most people can become educated and achieve freedom of thought, religion can be an obstacle to God and the goodness and love that is Gods essence.
We no longer need religion to regulate society or make it function, so religious condemnation is unnecessary. In the western world most people are educated and can make moral assumptions based on argument, not on dubiously interpreted scripture.
So much of religion is a blasphemous bastardisation of God, used by egotistical small minded groups of people to control others and perpetuate their own prejudices and hatred.
We need to develop morality based on logic and empathy, not religion.

Morality and ethics do not need to be saved from religion nor do they 'come from God'.
Your question poses a dichotomy which does not exist.

Indeed, the basis for morality is causality, not god.
If anything god says is moral is moral how can that be measured? Which god are we talking about first of all.
Christians scare me, by their school of thought if everyone found out tomorrow for certain that god never existed it seems like all of them would go on a stealing, raping, killing spree. If the only thing keeping them from doing this is their perceived notion of reward vs. punishment through god what else would keep them from doing things we all consider evil?
