Yes. We shouldn't have double standards. If we are going to make someone apologize for one thing, then everyone needs to apologize for the things the do or say about others. Or, we could just get over it all and not make it such a big deal when someone has an opinion, even if we don't agree with it.

I'm a feminist, and everytime a feminist is portrayed she's gay, butch, short hair, hairy legs and pits, and birkenstocks. Should I get an apology? What about Dave Chapelle, he makes fun of black people, white people, hispanic people, pretty much everyone. The differences are (1) you're only seeing the ones that hit close to home for you, not realizing that everyone gets hit and (2) there's a big difference between caricatures and hateful remarks like "F**k the Jews, they're responsible for every war"
Big difference.

Christianity insults Hollywood all the time, should they apologize? Mel Gibson is a chauvinistic pig who has kept his poor wife pregnant for years while wasting his meager talents making superstitious snuff movies.

Well, I think that creationists and pro-lifers deserve to be ridiculed, because they are all (or almost all) batshit ******* loco. What Mel did was a completely different calibre of insult. "Christians are batshit ******* loco" is a playful insult, and I hope you don't take it too personally, while "******* Jews... are resposible for all the wars in the world" is a seriously offensive remark.

Most of Hollywood isn't claiming to be "christ-like."

I think when people publicly announce that they have certain beliefs, then privately make opposite claims, they owe the public an apology.

Truthfulness, I assume, is still a chirstian virtue.

Although I could be wrong.

All sins are forgiven as long it is not the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. He had apologized and if he did truly from his heart then he has been forgiven from God. But we are no one to point fingers, we all are bad people and has fallen from God grace. So I'm sure one time we all had done something wrong that had hurt others, and not just Christian, but also unbelievers.

We as children of God have to forgive and forget and not continue digging from the ground what God had buried.

I think this whole Mel thing has gotten WAY out of hand... funny thing is celebrities insult and say things about other races/religions EVERYDAY....

but god forbid anyone ever say anything about the Jews.. we sto-p watching the war that THEY are in right now just because someone made a drunken comment.. he doesn't need them... he will keep succeeding in "their" industry...

As nice a thought as that is, i don't think you'll ever get an apology. best thing to do is to choose your movies wisely and spend your money on movies you think reflect your values. You may not change the world that way, but who knows, with enough people thinking before they spend, the hollywood bigwigs may sit up and take notice.

Don't even think that you and your faith is persecuted in the US. Do you even realize how idiotic that sounds to people who actually are discriminated against for their beliefs? You are the majority, you have no reason to complain. Besides, many Christians are very bigoted. Why bend reality?

Why was Mel drunk? And why did he say such hateful things? He doesn't need to apologize to me, I like seeing what people really are. As for you being insulted, maybe it's YOUR perception of yourself and what is being said that is 'seeing' offense when there is none.
