Was reading another question ('Are you afraid to open your heart?') when I realised the responses were similar. Made me wonder whether it's just the cynical that answer that sort of question or whether there's a lot of people with walled up hearts??

(Incidently, I'm a cynic!)

This is an issue I have with people my own aged (19-23)

I have the belief that alcohol destroys families and because of that I tend not to drink it, due to the fact I don't want to fund them so they can destroy more families and target more weak people.

Of course, you can't tell people never to drink, if that's what the like to do.

So is there a different way to look at the situation, so I can fit in more with people my own age and not fund the alcohol companies?

at least once a week for the past 4 weeks or so ive been in bed and then i fall asleep, but im still able to tell that im dreaming. im half awake and half asleep but i still think my dream is happening but i also know its not so i try to wiggle around and wake myself up but it doesnt work. sometimes i think i moved so much i think fell off my bed then i wake up for real with my heart beating fast and thank god i finally woke myself up. i hate when this happens because i hate the way it feels, which is why i try to wake myself up. my question is if this happens to anyone else and how can i prevent it? sometimes when it happens and i finally wake up, i take a walk then i fall completly asleep but then back to the same problem another night. any advice and info on why this happens?

I am extremely shy & the fact that I never seem to work up the nerve to look people in the face is become ever more evident to me. Even if i hookup with someone, i noticed that i can't look the guy in the face (you are probably asking, if you are so shy how are you hooking up?...well im in college and alcohol is usually involved)
I also notice that it is WORSE after I get close to them, in the hookup scenario. I may be able to flirt a little, but then when it becomes clear about what may happen and after it does happen, then i can't look at their faces.
In general, if i don't know a person well i find it hard to look at their face. I work at a food service place and sometimes it is hard for me to look at the customer when i am handing them their change for instance.
I guess i am just afraid of what i might see if i have to look at them. I am afraid the facial expression will be negative.
Does anybody know what i am talking about? have experience? what about the hookup thing? help?

I recieved some booklets asking to donate money to the 'handicapped'. It is rude, and offensive in our time for most people. The correct word should be 'disabled'. People with disabilities have voiced handicapped to be offensive. So I think we should respect that.

I don't know what to do or what is wrong with me? I am 49 years old and I just seem to be an *** all the time. But it's mostly to my wonderful, caring girlfriend, she is the best and I know it deep down but I sometimes forget and get angry at her for no reason. I seem to be stressed out about a lot of stuff. I have heard of mid-life crisis but is it real and what can I do to fix the problem? Thanks.

I visited a site and appered for a test the result told me

Your results indicate that your opinion of yourself is generally positive, but your sense of self-worth isn’t as strong as it could be. You sometimes put yourself down, falling victim to your own self-depreciating statements. An unstable sense of self-worth can result from a wide range of factors: perhaps you've recently gone through a particularly difficult period in your life, or you didn't get the support you needed from others when you were growing up. The important thing however, is not to figure out who/what is to blame; it is to recognize that it's now up to you to boost your self-image. There are certain attitudes and beliefs that have been found to contribute to and feed a negative self-image, and you appear to have some of them. Examples would be believing that you don’t deserve to be loved or respected, believing that you’re not good enough for someone, and focusing only on your perceived faults rather than good

She working two jobs also. i remember she ask for my whole check.not my brothers but me for my whole check.i gave her a portion but not the whole. And now she asked me a large amount that would hinder me from paying my bills becuz I got a sprint bill for $112, and credit card billl for $565.00, gym member ship bill for $101 and today is my birthday so I wanted to I wanted to get my hair done. I told mother," I wanted to get my hair done and I got bills to pay for." She said disregardingly and unconcern, "Thats what I need." I'm thinking to my self, how selfish she is. I know she need help but I got all these bills to pay for,And I do help her. I still dont got a car, and she is the MAIN one telling me to save my money. But as you know the saved person I am, I gave it to her. Am I wrong for feeling the way I do?

I don't conform to society. I just be myself, & I don't bother or hurt anyone. People say that when I don't conform, others have a right to treat me like an alien from Mars. Then when I do try to conform to society, they say I'm trying to fit in the crowd for attention. I'm a 23-yr. old college grad. Why do I need to yearn for attention? I'm used to being a loner & I like it that way because no one can hurt my feelings. People are SO contradictory about things! I swear.
