This is an issue I have with people my own aged (19-23)

I have the belief that alcohol destroys families and because of that I tend not to drink it, due to the fact I don't want to fund them so they can destroy more families and target more weak people.

Of course, you can't tell people never to drink, if that's what the like to do.

So is there a different way to look at the situation, so I can fit in more with people my own age and not fund the alcohol companies?

By making a stand yourself you aren't funding the alcohol companies. No one can control others so as for other people drinking, it's a case of live and let live.

You are 100% correct self-centered behavior destroys families. You are amongst the leaders of tomorrow.

They claim the choice to abuse alcohol results in 10% drink 90% negative behavior...be careful that you don't become what you hang with. There is no difference between the behavior of those labeled as alcoholics and those labeled with mental illness.

I dont drink, never have, but never been a problem, I like going out, dancing, chatting etc. My friends all drink, some far too much, most moderately, I have lemonade etc. No problem. I never explained why, never was asked, so you should be yourself, people will like you just the way you are. No lectures from you though!! everyone has freedom to choose. (Just some choices are a little smarter the others!!)

Everybody as their own views on things. And if you don't agree with drinking alcohol than that's fine and your friends should respect you for it. But you need to respect their view as well. You can still socialise with them and not drink i have a friend that doesn't drink but it doesn't stop her from having a good time. ( in fact I'd say she as a better time than the rest of us but together )

Way to go! Be proud, that's how. Don't let anyone influence you, it's your life decision with a good basis, and I thoroughly agree with your motives. I've seen a lot of destruction due to alcohol in my life, and feel the same. I used to lie about drinking, by telling the barman if anyone ordered me a brandy and coke to miss out the brandy, or only go to the bar myself, but I'm older and wiser now and just say no thanks.
Proud of you.

The vast majority of people drink responsibly in this country.
You can't blame the companies who make alcohol.
its down to the individual.
if you chose not to drink then that's up to you, you won't change someone who is an alcoholic, they can only do that themselves.

Aren't you already doing that? There are plenty of people who don't drink...just seek them out. Tip: You will not meet these people at bars.

Just sit back and watch them all make fools of themselves...I used to be like that with marijuana, I told everyone I was trying to cut down, so I didn't look like a weenie, but I did't smoke...

Easy - don't drink, but don't lecture your friends either unless they're actually endangering their health.
