My wife and I want to go to couples therapy; however we are not in the best financial shape. How can I find a cheaper counselor or therapist in Alaska? Thanks

Go to a mentel health clinic. Most often, fees are on a sliding scale according to your ability to pay, always check your health insurance, certain policies may cover costs and then you'd only have to make the co-payment. Good luck.

Try typing in your city, in the searches below, and see if there are counselors in your area. Also, you can try calling your local mental health center for references. Many hospitals have some sort of psychiatrist/therapist on staff and can provide a point of reference as well. Even if they can't treat you themselves, they can suggest other places you can look.

The church suggestion is also good, but many will offer counseling according to their doctrine, so it has its drawbacks as well.

Consider pastoral counseling by a minister at a large church. it won't cost you anything, and many churches have qualified people as a part of the ministry.
