Social Science - 19 February 2007

I am very shy and quiet around people I work with and also around my husband's family members. Sometimes, I am also shy and quiet around women (I am a woman). I am the complete opposite around men and gay men (really comfortable with them) and I feel that I can "be myself". Why is this? How do I get over this?

Both were rejected by their husbands. Both are IMPLODING, but in different directions.

One is reacting to it by bizarre behaviour and the other is reacting to it by bizarre behaviour, such as wanting to be President of the United States.

So we have two SCORNED women, only one is a danger to herself while the other is a danger to this nation!

I say we should BAN scorned women from running for office and lets be thankful Britney hasn't decided to challenge Hillary, although I don't mind if Hillary didn't wear panties as revenge.

I am lost in a forest. I’m with a group of strangers who are also lost, but luckily one of them happens to be a survival expert. The expert guides us through the forest until we reach a river. He then tells everyone that they must wash their babies in the water. All of the adults who have children enter the river with their children, who did not appear earlier in the dream. The adults stand in the waist-deep river and repeatedly dip the babies in the water. All the while, our guide keeps giving instructions like, “In and out, up and down, etc.” as if this is a class. All of the babies start to cry because the water is cold. I go in the river and look at an African-American baby. It stops crying and smiles. I pick it up and it laughs. I think about how cute the baby is and walk over to a Caucasian baby. When the white baby sees the black baby, it also starts laughing. Pretty soon, all the babies are happy again. I think about how adorable they all are, then wake up.

One day as i was walking
quietly not talking
being on my own
didnt want to look a clown

I thought of somthing wild
and sniggered like a child
i was being quite daring
people are now staring

strolling a little faster
somthing iv learned to master
when feeling rather silly
Im hot then faint then chilly.

growing dark around my vision
got to avoid collision
searching a fast exit
just want somwere quiet to sit

fleaing for the wall
and trying to run tall
hope its six foot high
hope it reaches to the sky

Can feel my feet get heavy
right, then, left,,keep steady
made it nearly reached the brick
think now i may be sick

just a few more steps to go
each one seems to grow
like wading through treacle
wish i was a beetle

someones passing by
my eyes now tell a lie
leaning back against the stone
thank god now they have gone

looking all around
can hear every single sound
blood pulsing through my ears
my heartbeat plays my fears.

if you want equal rights then that means chivraly is dropped. which would mean you cant get out of situations because you say "but im a woman". no more holding the door open, you can hit women without being looked down on because you would just be sen as hitting an equal. men dont have to pay for the dinenrs. the list gos on and on.

if we all had equal rights. then you feminists will be expected to fight, and not get special treatment anymore

This is serious. A lot of advice books say Oh after you do something good but difficult (finish yucky homework, do aerobics for an hour, etc) THEN give yourself a reward of something you really enjoy. Well, I don't mean this smart ***, really, but I do not understand tht form of motivation. How exactly does it work? Because I'll just get in a funk, not do my work, and reward myself anyway! Help! :-/ I've also met women who are like Oh I have to lose 5 ponuds this month because next month I go to Hawaii. Is that really a motivation? How can it be? Just go 5 pounds fatter and have fun anyway. I would like to understand this better! How can I REALISTICALLY motivate myself towards any doable goal?

Hey all

Clinical Forensic question for you for an essay. I know this isn't the most reliable source but I heard on The Bill a year or two ago the forensic psychologist said killers generally don't cross water to kill or ditch the body. Can anyone tell me who came up with this theory? And if it holds any truth?

For example, the guy from the baseball team named Rocker. He said he didn't like gays, foreigners or jews. And the team fined him for that and made him apologize. And now Tim Hardaway also. So wouldn't this make everyone bottle up their true feelings and be phonies instead. Isn't it better for all the racists to show themselves so we can stay away from them and not mistakingly think that they are our friends when deep down they could be hating you?
