a white boy in my class was bragging about how white people are better and smarter and superior to other people of color.

He told me that his dad told him that white people are gods special creation because they have Blond hair and blue and green eyes and that other people in the world are not specail because we have black and brown hair , skin and eyes.

so dose that make them better ,

Also can any body tell me what melanin is , i asked my teacher but she say that its not real.?

Do I have to make a choice between the meaning of life and happiness? How can I stay happy perpetually and not rely on external materialisms ex a good man, great home, luxury bags etc etc to fill in the emptiness that prevails soon after?! How did you find that inner peace?

I have read the wiki entry on this here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_versus_nominal_value

I understood most of it, but the calculation is not laid out in the best manner and doesn't explain things too well.

I also read this link that explains the difference:

http://economics.about.com/cs/macrohelp/a/nominal_vs_real.htm

but the 3rd example of wages over a 2 year period is not well explained - how does he arrive at year 2 real wages of $49,107, and, can someone explain why the forumlae is laid out as it is please?

If someone could do it in laymans terms (as much as possible) and also give me a few examples - say for real VS nominal wages and a commodity, say house prices, over a 5 year period to illustrate exactly what is going on, i would really appreciate it.

Many thanks!

I had a very intense dream where I'm in a pool of water and making friends with a very sad, scared, and ugly fish. That is, until the shark shows up. I'm yelling at people on land telling them to make it stop as it plows into me and starts nibbling. Not biting, but teasing. I frantically swim to shore and escape the shark, but my fish friend is nowhere to be found. I awoke searching for my fish, and when I realized what happened I started to cry. What does this mean???

I've had a rough life shared by my older brother who suffers from depression due to our childhood. My father died when I was eleven, and my mother made me work instead of go to school. I ran away from home at fifteen, went to high school, and college. My question is this. Why didn't all the negative factors in my life affect me like it did my brother? I can safely say, I have never been depressed or really truely unhappy, Ever! My friends thought I was on something, my brother says I'm in denial. I have always been happy, no matter what happens to me. Am I a shallow person? A psychologist of my brothers told me once when I asked him what kind of person I was, a glass half empty or half full. He said I'm a person that just says there's water in the glass. Why do I feel so happy all the time?

Ok, here's the deal. As far back as I can remember, I have been a very shy person. During High School I'd react strangely to social situations, and have extreme difficulty holding a conversation. People would view me as cold and aloof, which isn't how I really am. I would always feel that people were judging me or thinking the worst of me. I was a perfectionist with my school work. Now I've left school, I find that I hate going out of my house; i coerce my partner into doing the shopping and bill paying.
I've come to realise it isn't normal, and have even researched it a bit and come to the conclusion it is either Avoidant Personality Disorder or simply social anxiety.
I am afraid to go and see a Doctor, because I feel that they are going to tell me nothing is wrong or that I am a hypochondriac.
Does anyone have any suggestions that have helped them improve on their own? Does anyone have any experiences to share? Or should I just get someone I know to force me into going to a Dr?

When did powerful, non-extreme portions of feminism start to move towards gaining more than just equality with men & an attitude of "I am woman hear me roar (but don't hold me accountable)." I would say the 1970's; what do you think?

2 examples I dont understand-

Why people put down others who they think are inferior to them in some way wether it be financially, lookswise, religion etc

Why people put down others who they are jealous of or they think are better than themselves yet they say bad things about the person?

I never understood this. Ive always wanted to build someone up regardless of their circumstances or looks. I dont judge that stuff, why do other people?

Why would someone go out their way to 'bring another person down', how do they get enjoyment out of that?

Most of you aren't getting married and having families nowadays, IMHO - foolishness!!! So, what do you have after you start getting up there in age? NOTHING, but men!!!! You say, good, friends, and a career, money? Thats a crock! That will take you really far, when all you really want is true love.. I use to chase you up and down when I was younger... Now, look who is doing the chasing?? WOMAN! Not me! Men on the other hand have much more - we got boats and fast cars to work on...Homes to rehab.. We go travelling to dangerous places and suit foreign woman. We can move about more freely both at home and abroad because we have less fears, and are less-inclined to have to deal with the uncivilized raping us in 3rd world. Its great to be a man! Of course these comments above don't aplly to beautiful woman. They are tough to come in the USA where most are FAT!!! Comments!

I have a few problems at the moment (i wont bore you all with them) and i am desperately trying to be positive. The problem is, no matter how many times i say positive things out loud...in my head i still dont really believe it.
I dont think my life is hopeless and that there is no light at the end of the tunnel or anything, i just cant seem to cope very well at the moment and i feel like i need to change my negativity. Has any one had success with techniques/books etc?
All helpfull advice really appreciated.
