that's the same as locking yourself in the bathroom. Of course no..hehe..in a hostage situation you need two or more people in one locked room where one or a group threatens to kill or bring injury to others..duh

No. As he swings between personalities he is one person at a time. There is never an instance that there are two people in the room. Nice try.

If one is cognizant of the other and is deliberately locking the other away then you don't need the room for the hostage situation to exist!

funny Q, but im going to the geek who answers seriously, as we had this drunken conversation in the pub and answered it once and for all.

will say that the law refers to a hostage as a person taken at force by another against their will, that force can be threats of violence or violence itself.

The law has not still recognised split personality syyndrome, there are no stated cases to that point yet.

And of course when one personality takes the body into the room and locks it, the other personality has no body to speak of to be threatened or have violence used, it is simply stored in the mind..

And available evidence suggests that two personalities are not normally aware of each other.

If a person continuously asked pointless questions - just to get a rise out of the masses, should they be killed for the benefit of mankind? Or just killed on general principles?

I think a lot would depend on if he "premeditated". If this person duct-taped himself to the chair, sent out for 2 lunches,etc.... then, yes, (and bring on the straight jacket !)

It seems to make him repeat what he says, anyway.

He wouldn't need to be locked in a room because he's already in a prison in his mind.
