It saddens me that so many feel that God hates them. That they have a creator who despises them, and wishes them harm and pain. Those who feel like this (or something like it), where is this feeling of hatred coming from for you PERSONALLY?

After reading the bible I know that God (the Old Testement) is full of hate, anger, and spite. He consistantly picked favorites and punished the people that weren't on his love list. Jesus showed up in the new testement and was very loving, generous, and compasionate. I don't get him mixed up with his father though.
You are talking about God, not Jesus, right? Ya, God was the opposite of "understanding". Have you ever read the bible all the way through? Or do you just flip to the same verses everytime you need a pick me up? I recommend reading it all the way through. Very enlightening.

I think that sometimes, when something bad happens in our lives people need someone or something to blame. It's pretty easy to say that for instance, my house burned down because God hates me, or I got cancer because God is testing me, or I did something bad and this is my punishment. Personally, I don't understand why God would hate, they say that He is love, don't they? I get so sick and tired of hearing things like God is punishing the black people in New Orleans. It's just garbage! God created us all and He loves us all.
