Counselors represent authority in a setting of what the kids see as a place for play and leisure. The kids want to be free. Counselors confine and restrict behaviour and activity.

Most parents get a break when kids go to camp. And kids as well. Kids like the feel and expererience away from that parent authority figure. Its not all kids though. I find most are boys that have this problem at camps.
Take care.

if the counselors are doing something inappropriate. if your child is persistent in not going..there has to be a reason... find out why
i sent my son off to YMCA camp, thinking that it was a christian based camp.. he came home with SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many dirty jokes, saying that's what the counselors did at night, sat around and told them dirty jokes.
