I read the article and I cannot believe that a reliable institute would associate their name with this article. In his conclusion he tried to relate sex with development, not sexual development but crawling and walking, and it made no sense. We all utilize sex for what we want, procreation, intimacy, recreational, etc. and that gives sex the meaning for each of us. I found nothing relevant in his article.

We discover the meaning of sex each time we are sexual, meaning that only resides in our experience. The meaning of sex changes--is reinvented--each time we are sexual.

I think this sentence here is a key! Focus on that point: do you know what phenomenology is? Experience is the human's only reality. I personally would argue against this article. In a dynamic point of view, it doesn't exist because of the continuity of events. But from a humanistic point of view, as I said: here and now is the only reality.

So, sex is meaningless; yes and no. This article said nothing, but just strung together some oft observed banalities. Is this what passes for scholarship in sociology?

Just highlight the main points and tell about something in the article that struck you as really interesting. Wouldn't mind seeing the article myself.
