Newborn & Baby - November 2007

I first noticed that when my son cries, his belly bitton stuck out, and would go to an 'innie' when he stoped soon after he was born. I brought this up to his Dr and she dismissed it as anything. Well it is still doing it and he is 7 mo old. Should I seek another opinion.

I keep hearing the expression, to bond with your baby, some mothers seem to know they've got that bond & others don't.
How did you feel when your baby was born in that respect?

Personally I was in awe when i first had my baby at how cute & adorable she was, but I felt she could have been given birth to by anybody.Maybe cos i had a c-section.She's 1 yrs now & I can't describe how much i love & want to protect her but when i look at her i still can't see that she came from inside me.

Tell me your experience....

I'm At least 3 months pregnant recently though, My belly got really tight, it feels really hard like I have a huge ball starting under my Boobs and it seems to be growing from that point,
Its also very hard to breath all the time no matter the position im sitting or laying,
I looked this up and it was saying something about "Braxton Hicks" Im not sure what that means, And what are signs of Twins?? (google Seems to think thats why my belly Hurts and its so hard)

Gerber Soft Center Pacifiers. Does anyone know where we can find them before this last one wears out? All that we can find is for newborn and we need 6 months and up.

My daughter just turned 8 months on the 3rd and has been crawling for 1 month. She has just lately gotten used to it properly and is crawling everywhere. She can go anywhere, we have no stairs or anything so she is safe and isnt out of my site i am alway chasing her around. So my question is do you put your baby in a playpen or cot?? I dont think i could do it it doesnt seem to be enough room. But chasing her is driving me nuts so what do you do?

I see around people talking about lavender lotion and lavender bathing products to calm your baby. I would be happy if someone can tell me which company produces lavender lotion and bathing products and if it is good for the newborn skin. I live in a place where there isnt any shopping malls or a baby shop. I only have some supermarkets here with limited items and i havent come across lavender products. I am 27 weeks + 1 day preggy (second baby) and i am buying things for the baby when ever i go to the city. So the next time when i drive down for a shopping, i would like to get some good bathing products that would suit the newborn skin and would calm them and put them to sleep. I live in the middle east. So i dont know if id get the products that are available in US or UK or Canada. Yet i have a mother care shop and i can try if they have the products there.

Thanks in advance!!! :-)

i have a 8 1/2 month old i usally rock and pat on the back, thigh and his but (not all the same time or day).

what are other ways i can help get him to sleep?

i love the bonding but it takes a while to get him to sleep then if he wakes in the night he can't get back to sleep with out the patting.

by the time he is a year old i would like him to have his own pattern and be able to fall asleep on his own.

what do you do to get your baby to sleep at night?

im hopeing i can find a way that works for the both of us. any ideas that you can give and has worked for you or anyone you know will help.

Hi,
My son is 9 weeks 3 days old - he got his first shots this last thursday, since then he has not felt well at all. no fever but you can just tell by his eyes that he does not feel well. he is very fussy etc. Today diahrea started - i called my doc and he said to take him off formula for a day or so and give him pedialyte instead. is this ok for such a young baby? thanks! (I have a dr apt tomorrow to have him checked out.)

i got a letter in the mail today saying that my newborn almost 2 weeks old had questionable results on her newborn screening test for sickle cell disease. it says that she needs to be retested and that she could have the disease or be a carrier of the disease or that she could have nothing wrong with her. what are the chances that there is nothing wrong with her? this is my first child and im scared to death.. thanks for any advice!

I have a dog and a upcoming baby. To travel to the park or anywhere with both of them, is there a set up for this ... like a plastic wall that can go between the two of them? Anyone heard of something?

Thanks!

I have 2 little girls, ages 2 and 5 months. The two year old has had cronic ear infections and fluid on the ear. However, they are rarely painful or symptomatic. We usually find out about them during a routine check-up. Now, my 50-month old has one!
My question is this: I breastfed my 1st for a year, and I breastfeed the baby. I often breastfeed while lying down. I have been assured that this doesn't cause ear infections (though drinking a bottle while lying down DOES), but I am at a loss to find another explanation. No one smokes, and the kids are otherwise healthy. One thing to note: I was prone to ear and throat infections as a child. Does that matter?
Has anyone else ever had this problem?

i have a 6 month old daughter and she has been BEYOND cranky 2day. she woke up this morning at about 7:30 (lil earlier then usual) and ate then went back to bed at 8:30. she woke up again at about 11. i played with her and fed her at about 1. she ate a lil bit of carrots and then started screaming her head off!! i know she was still hungry but she would not calm down so i whiped her off and put some apple cereal in a bottle so she would get full and i gave her some water after that. she went back to sleep at around 2. she woke up at about 3:30 and went right back to being cranky but not as bad. i put her in her playpen with all her toys and she played for about 10-15 minutes. she started crying her head off again so i layed her down (she was sitting up playing) she was okay for about 2 minutes n started screaming again. so i put her in her walker while i made her a bottle (my husband works so i dont have n e one to help durring the day) and i fed her the bottle. she screamed again!!!

Bit of a arguement here between me and my friend, i am mum of 2, she is mum of 1 and 1 on the way.

Basically, when i was first pregnant i bought the best steam steralizer going in Mothercare, this is how i was taught to and now steralize bottles and how i think it should be done:

1. Wash My Hands
2. Rinse Bottles, Teats, Rings And Lids
3. Wash Them All In Soapy Warm Water
4. Rinse Again
5. Steralize Them
6. Wash Hands
7. Remove From Steralizer And Make Feeds

Now, My Friends Way Of Seralizing:

1. Rinse Under Hot Water

Thats it!

She Thinks That Is Just As Effective As My Way Of Steralizing, BUT, Surely This Isnt Good, Surely Theres Bacteria Still There And Possibly Old Traces Of Formula???

She Thinks Steralizers Are A Waste Of Money??

Please Vote, My Way Or Her Way?

by the way, even if you all say shes right, im still going to steralize my way!!

I am breastfeeding her exclusively, but every once in a while it would be nice if she would take a bottle. (She is six weeks old.) Every time I try (or anyone else tries) to give her one, she gags on the milk because she refuses to take it. Can anyone help? Thanks!!
