First make sure that the doctor knows this is happening.

Next, give the child water, just milk really increases phlegm.

Sometimes a few drops of lemon juice in warm water can help break it up.

Put the baby on your lap, facing down (not covering the face), gently rub the upper back with your warm hand. This will help to break it up in the lungs.

Check with a naturopath for other helpful hints.

No, don't tip it upside down and shake it, that would be bad...

You could steam up the bathroom by running a shower on hott, and sit on the toilet with the baby in your lap.

Or you could go to a child pharmacy and get some medicine that is specifically made for children as young as yours.

Hope she feels better soon

I remember all of my kids having some degree of phleminess for the first weeks.
Only you know what sounds *normal*....if you're concerned, call your doc and ask, otherwise you should be going soon for a 6week check up anyways, right?
If it's hindering his sleep and sounds more like "choking", that definately warrants a call to your doc. Do you have any type of 24 Nurses Hotline? You could try that too?

theres not much you can do there , call your doctors office and explain what your hearing and they will give you the best advise . i know if you sit in a steamy room like the bathroom and run the hot water in the shower it will help loosen it , i wish you and your baby the best.

my 2nd son used to have that too when he was newborn... brought him to c a number of doctors and all they said "It will go away when he is few months old".... and true enough it goes away when he was abt 2-4 months old.
anyway, in between that period, i did my own observation so that my son dun have any difficulty in breathing and feeding... at the same time, i gave my son to drink alot of plain water too...

Take her to a doctor NOW.
By the way, she's a good looking baby. You must be very happy.

steam is great like everyone else said and then prop her crib mattress up a bit (not enough for her to roll) cool steam vaporizers have always been good for my kids as well.
