Hi,
My son is 9 weeks 3 days old - he got his first shots this last thursday, since then he has not felt well at all. no fever but you can just tell by his eyes that he does not feel well. he is very fussy etc. Today diahrea started - i called my doc and he said to take him off formula for a day or so and give him pedialyte instead. is this ok for such a young baby? thanks! (I have a dr apt tomorrow to have him checked out.)

Sorry to hear he isn't feeling good! I worried about the same thing when my son was really little and sick. That is what they say to do though. I asked my mom about it, and she said she did the same thing (but then it was Gatorade) when I was little. I went ahead and did it and he was just fine. Hope your little guy feels better soon!

Well taking him off of the formula will be fine for 1 day. Formula is all of his vitamins and nutrients that a child needs to survive and pedialyte contains some of those. So he will not starve or lose weight, he will just be missing out on a couple of vitamins and nutrients for ONE day. He'll be fine. Sorry to here he's not feeling well.

Yes, Pedialyte replenishes electrolytes that are lost due to the diarrhea.

That's exactly what any normal doctor would do.
Keep your appointment so he can check hydration and take a sample of poop in a closed jar ( not the diaper!!).

yes this is fine as long as he doesn't lose any weight and it sounds as if he's allergic to the formula

Yes, that's pretty normal. You'll be fine until tomorrow.
